    Ray Kasongo, the 6-foot-9, 235-pound big man from Grassroots Canada, was one of three recruits at UConn this weekend when they honored former coach Jim Calhoun.

    Kasongo was joined by Louisville decommit JaQuan Lyle and former Maryland pledge Sam Cassell.

    “It was very good, we enjoyed our visit. I was there with my wife [Kazady] and Ray,” Vincent Kasongo, Ray’s father, said by phone from Toronto.

    “It’s a good university and they have a good program. And about basket [ball] they have a good coach. Everything seems good.”

    Robert Johnson of Chesterfield (Va.) Benedictine committed to Indiana on Friday. In this Player Blog for ZAGSBLOG Johnson said he’s working on getting a few other recruits — Devin Robinson and Goodluck Okonoboh –– to join him.

    Just a couple of days after in-state rival Seton Hall pulled off a major recruiting coup by landing Brooklyn Lincoln guard Isaiah Whitehead, Rutgers hosted a slew of young  basketball talent for Saturday’s football game in which the Scarlet Knights beat Arkansas, 28-24

    New Rutgers coach Eddie Jordan may not be able to match Kevin Willard’s recent burst of recruiting success this year, but Jordan is hoping another talented Isaiah will stay home and play ball at the state university.

    Isaiah Briscoe was the biggest name who visited Saturday and Jordan made his pitch.

    Former Miami commit Adonys Henriquez has cut hist list to five.

    The 6-foot-6, 195-pound combo guard out of Orlando Christian Prep Tweeted that he’s down to UCF, Vanderbilt, Creighton, Minnesota and Butler and is “looking to decide late October.

    Henriquez enjoyed his weekend visit to Butler and will visit UCF this weekend, Vanderbilt the weekend of Oct. 5 and Minnesota Oct. 12.

    “Butler was fun,” he told SNY.tv. “They have a grew new coach [Brandon Miller]. I liked their gym and their winning ways. They want me to come in and put up numbers.”

    Following his final visit this weekend to Indiana, Lourawls “Tum Tum” Nairn is hoping to decide “soon,” his coach told SNY.tv.

    “We would like to make a decision soon,” Belaire (KS) Sunrise Christian Academy coach Kyle Lindsted told SNY.tv.

    “We will wait till he’s 100 percent sure he’s got the right place for him no matter how long it takes.

    A 5-foot-10, 175-pound Bahamas native, Nairn is also considering Minnesota, Oklahoma and Michigan State, and has now visited all four schools.

    Cliff Alexander has cut his list to six schools.

    The 2014 Chicago Curie big man, currently en route to Jakarta, Indonesia for the 3-on-3 World Championship with Team USA, Tweeted this list Monday:

    “My top 6 schools NO ORDER Michigan state, Illinois, Memphis, DePaul, Kansas, Arizona.”

    In this video interview with Scott Burgess of ChicagoHoops.com, Alexander had said Kentucky is no longer on his list.

    “No, they’re not anymore,” he said.

    Asked who was on his list, Alexander said, “It’s pretty much the same, everybody except Kentucky.”

    Alexander’s mother, Latillia, later told SNY.tv that Kentucky stopped calling him.

    Kentucky does remain involved with Jahlil Okafor and Myles Turner, two of the other top big men in the Class of 2014.
