    It always helps to have your full roster of players when facing the No. 3 team in the country.

    But Seton Hall coach Kevin Willard won’t have anything close to his full roster when the Pirates (12-2, 1-1 Big East) host Louisville (13-1, 1-0) Wednesday night at the Prudential Center.

    Already missing forward Patrik Auda (broken foot) for the season, Seton Hall will also be without forward Brian Oliver (ankle) and likely center Aaron Geramipoor (stress fracture right foot). Center Kevin Johnson is also working his way back from knee surgery.

    GREENBURGH, N.Y. — On a day when the media circus surrounded Carmelo Anthony and his altercation with Kevin Garnett, the Knicks got some good news regarding second-year guard Iman Shumpert.

    Shumpert played three-on-three and endured contact for the first time since undergoing offseason ACL surgery and is optimistic about coming back soon, although no precise timetable is set.

    “He looked good,” Knicks coach Mike Woodson said. “Great first day for him in terms of  a little contact and moving around. He said he felt pretty good but we just gotta take it a day at a time.”

    GREENBURGH, N.Y. — Carmelo Anthony     said he “lost his composure” following the Celtics-Knicks game Monday night because Kevin Garnett said something to him during the game that “crossed the line.”

    Garnett reportedly said something about Anthony’s wife, La La Vasquez, but whatever it was Melo didn’t appreciate it.

    “There are certain things you just don’t say to men, another man, so I felt that he crossed the line,” Anthony said a day after the Knicks’ 102-96 loss to Boston.

    NEW YORK — Doc Rivers says Rasheed Wallace never should’ve retired and that he’s rooting for him to do well with the Knicks.

    “I love him,” the Celtics coach said before Boston met the Knicks Monday at MSG.

    “He was great for us. I’m happy for him. We had a long conversation last year and I just never thought he should’ve retired. I said that when he retired. I just thought it was too early for him.  I’m glad he’s playing. Players should play. I think sometimes at the end of your career you’re almost talked into retirement and so you start thinking about it and you do it.

    Marshall freshman point guard Kelvin Amayo has obtained his release and will transfer.

    “I want to thank Marshall University but they didn’t have an athletic scholarship for me and that wasn’t the deal we made,” Amayo told SNY.tv.

    Amayo was not on scholarship but was under the impression he would receive one.

    Marshall has had 13 players on scholarship since the fall, sources told SNY.tv. Sources said Amayo did not show up for practice Monday and still hadn’t informed head coach Tom Herrion of his decision as of Monday night.

    Andrew Wiggins, Articles, Recruiting

    As Kentucky piles up one elite recruit after another, Andrew Wiggins and Julius Randle remain on the board and still plan to take their visits.

    While everyone and their mother has an opinion on how Kentucky’s six-man recruiting class might impact Wiggins and Randle — “[Shoot], they can’t all go there [to Kentucky],” one high-level Division 1 assistant told SNY.tv — essentially nothing has changed for either player.

    The 6-foot-8 Wiggins took an official visit to Florida State in December and is still planning officials to Kentucky, North Carolina and Kansas sometime this spring. North Carolina coach Roy Williams met recently with Wiggins but no official date was set for a visit.
