  • Recalling Gerry McNamara’s Heroics vs. Cincinnati

    Share Zagsblog Share Zagsblog

With Syracuse and Cincinnati set to face off tonight in the Big East Tournament semifinals at Madison Square Garden, here’s a flashback to 2006 when Gerry McNamara hit this running 3-pointer to give the Orange the victory over the Bearcats in the first round of the event.

Cincinnati almost made a halfcourt heave at the buzzer to win the game for then-coach Andy Kennedy.

Also of note: Bernie Fine and Rob Murphy were still on the bench for the Cuse.

Ironically, McNamara replaced Fine and is now an assistant on this year’s team.

Good job by the folks at Three Idiots on Sports for digging this one up.
