Brandon Taylor, a 6-foot-7, 240-pound power forward from Trenton (N.J.) Catholic, verbally pledged to Penn State.

Taylor chose the Lions over Miami, Drexel, Temple, Richmond and South Florida, his father, Byron, told SNY.tv.

“Proximity is one of the reasons,” Byron Taylor said. “He wanted to be close to home where his family could go see him play.”

Byron said his son may elect to redshirt his freshman because he’s only 17.

“He’s a younger kid,” his father said. “He’s very versatile. He can pass, he can shoot , he can post .He gives you that skill set.”
