The Knicks balked at acquiring Carmelo Anthony on Monday because they would have had to give up too much in return, according to the Daily News.

According to the report, citing a “team source close to the negotiations,” the Nuggets wanted three starters, including Danilo Gallinari and Raymond Felton, plus Eddy Curry’s expiring contract and at least one first-round pick.

The Knicks would have gotten Anthony and Chauncey Billups in return.

Asked about the trade rumors after practice Monday, Felton said, “Honestly, I don’t care about it. I don’t even talk about it. I don’t even entertain it. It goes in my ear and go out the other.”

The trade deadline is Feb. 24.
