Carmelo Anthony told Isiah Thomas that “he intends to sign with the Knicks,” according to a Daily News report citing a “team source.”
Anthony has a three-year, $65 million extension on the table, but has reportedly said he won’t sign it.
The Knicks have reportedly offered Danilo Gallinari, Eddy Curry and his expiring contract and a future first-round pick. Knicks president Donnie Walsh told the Daily News those are “just rumors.”
Nuggets point guard Chauncey Billups said last week that he had spoken to Anthony but would not reveal what was said.
“It’s between me and my guy,” Billups said. “If y’all have a close personal friend and they’re going through something and the media asks, you’re not going to expose that. That’s what a relationship is all about. When I speak to him, it’s between me and him. Y’all find out when he wants y’all to know.”
