    NEW YORK — During Sunday’s exhibition between Team USA and France at Madison Square Garden, St. John’s coach Steve Lavin and his wife, the actress Mary Ann Jarou, sat courtside near Thierry Henry, Tony Parker and Eva Longoria.

    As he gazed up into a capacity crowd of 19,763 fans, Lavin couldn’t help but imagine what it might be like to coach the Johnnies before a similarly stoked crowd.

    “That’s the picture we have to paint for the future of our program because one of the biggest selling points St. John’s has is Madison Square Garden, the mecca of college basketball, a fan base that has a passion for the game,” Lavin said.
