West Virginia coach Bob Huggins was released Wednesday from a Las Vegas hospital.

“He’s resting, feeling better,” a source with knowledge said.

Huggins had been hospitalized since breaking seven ribs in a fall in his hotel room on Friday while in Nevada on a recruiting trip.

    CALHOUN HIGH ON ST. JOHN’S

UConn coach Jim Calhoun said he expects big things from St. John’s under first-year coach Steve Lavin. The Johnnies return nine seniors this season.

“I have no question that St. John’s is going to move up,” Calhoun told me at the Peach Jam. “When you got 8 or 9 seniors, you’re gonna be good. You are gonna be good.”

St. John’s finished 17-16, 6-12 in the Big East under former coach Norm Roberts last season.

Calhoun also thinks Seton Hall has a chance to improve under first-year coach Kevin Willard.

“Seton Hall’s got some talent,” Calhoun said. “Kevin Willard’s a nice young guy. He’s gonna be a terrific coach one day so I root for him.”

UCONN CHARITY GAME SET FOR AUG. 7

Our man David Borges of the New Haven Register reports that the 2010 Jim Calhoun Charity All-Star Game is set for 7:30 on Aug. 7 at Mohegan Sun.

Borges says Rip Hamilton, Ray Allen, Emeka Okafor, Taliek Brown, Denham Brown, Marcus Williams, Murray Williams, Donyell Marshall, Donny Marshall, Caron Butler, Travis Knight, Phil Gamble, UConn assistant Kevin Ollie and Dartmouth assistant Ricky Moore will all play.

Jerome Dyson, Jeff Adrien, Craig Austrie and Stanley Robinson are also expected. Adrien and Robinson played together on the Orlando Magic summer league team.

“Everything’s new for Stanley. It’s an adjustment,” Adrien told Borges. “He did fine.”

Calhoun also told me former PG Khalid El-Amin has made over $7 million “over in Russia.”

“It’s official,” the rising sophomore told Kline. “Pittsburgh offered me. My father spoke to the coach today.”

He added: “I am very excited that I received my first official offer. I want to keep all of my options open but I like Pittsburgh because it’s not far from home.”

**St. Anthony junior point guard Kyle Anderson has picked up a scholarship offer from Arizona.
