    PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Trudi Bynoe was watching ESPN on New Year’s Day when she nearly went into shock.

    There, on the television for everyone to see, was her son, Tennessee junior center Brian Williams.

    “I was at home and we were watching ESPN,” Bynoe recalled in a telephone interview. “They said four Tennessee players were arrested. I never would’ve thought in a million years that I would’ve actually seen my son on TV for a crime. It hurt me, it hurt my brother. We were like in total shock.”
