Busy Day for Harris Family, UConn Coaches; Irving Impressed with Coach K; Mack Visits St. John's

Today is a busy day for Tobias Harris and his family.
After hosting in-home visits with John Calipari of Kentucky, Paul Hewitt of Georgia Tech and Mike Brey of Notre Dame in recent days, the 6-foot-8 Harris and his family will host Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim and Louisville’s Rick Pitino today.
Both Syracuse and Louisville are considered serious contenders for Harris, the No. 5 prospect in the Class of 2010.
UConn coach Jim Calhoun was supposed to come to Long Island, too, but Tobias said he “is not coming because of the Hall of Fame thing.”
Tobias later said UConn probably wouldn’t end up coming in for a visit, “but they are still in.” He has already visited the school unofficially.
Calhoun is also supposed to host a visit from 6-11 Andre Drummond of St. Thomas More in Oakdale, Conn., the No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2012.
“Everybody’s looking at the kid. I guess he’s the No.1 ranked sophomore in the country,” St. Thomas More coach Jere Quinn said.
“He’s 6-11 with a 7-6 wingspan who can run and catch everything. He’s just a young kid whose potential is limitless.”
IRVING IMPRESSED WITH COACH KKyrie Irving had some good things to say about Duke after an in-home visit earlier this week with Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski and assistants Chris Collins and Nate James.
“Just having [Krzyzewski] in my home and getting an opportunity to meet with him on a personal level and let him meet my parents and my baby sister was great. His honesty was impressive, and he’s very intelligent. He told me exactly what it would be like if I came to Duke, and what I should expect in being part of the team. His honesty about it really stood out,” Irving told Devils Illustrated in quotes that appeared in the Indianapolis Star.
He added: “Basically, now I just have to take my visit and if I get the right feeling and am comfortable that it’s the right school, I’ll commit.”
Irving will visit Duke Sept. 25, Indiana on Oct. 2 and Texas A&M Oct. 9.
MACK VISITS ST. JOHN’S
Paterson Catholic junior point guard Myles Mack took an unofficial to St. John’s on Saturday with his family.
“It went really well. We got the tour of the campus. We got to meet the coaching staff. I met Malik Boothe and Quincy Roberts,” Mack said.
Mack said he’s still planning some other visits to Fordham, Virginia Tech, Rice and Providence.
Asked if he had any favorites, Mack said, “Not really.”
Coaches from Boston University and Columbia University also came to see senior point guard Jayon James the other day.
