  • Eddie Griffin, Metro Classic On Tap Sunday; Cheek, Scott, Kazemi Go Road Trippin’

    This is a big weekend for hoops in the metropolitan area, with both the Eddie Griffin Memorial Challenge and the Metro Classic All-Star Games taking place Sunday.

    The Eddie Griffin Memorial Challenge is at the Rutgers College Avenue Gymnasium (the Barn) in New Brunswick. The top players from New Jersey will meet their counterparts from Philly.

    The Game Times are:

    1:00 Sophomores; 2:30 Juniors; 4:00 Seniors

    Meantime, the Metro Classic High School All-Star Games at the Island Garden will raise funds for the Make A Wish Foundation and the Howie Frajberg Medical Research Foundation. The girls game starts at noon and the boys game at 3:30.

    “I’m not sure [if Favors will visit Memphis this weekend],” South Atlanta coach Michael Reddick said Friday morning. “He might not be able to go. We’ll make a decision soon. He has to because he’s supposed to be going tomorrow. I’m not sure yet whether it’s going to be this week or the following or the week after.”
