  • Scott to Visit Pitt; Seton Hall Recruiting Kennedy

    Durand Scott will take his first official visit this weekend when he goes to Pitt.

    “Yes, my first official,” Scott, a senior guard at Manhattan Rice, said in a text message.

    Scott previously said he has a top eight schools of UCLA, Miami, UConn, Tennessee, Xavier, Pittsburgh, Memphis and Virginia

    “I didn’t cut it down yet, pretty soon,” the 6-4, 180-pound Scott said.

    It is a big week at Pitt. The Panthers just got a commitment from 6-7 PF J.J. Richardson of Hightower (Texas) High. Lincoln center James Padgett will also visit Pitt this weekend on an official and Chris Dokish of the NBE Basketball Report reports that Pitt commits Dante Taylor of National Christian and Lamar Patterson of St. Benedict’s will also visit. During the Iowa-Pitt football game, the basketball team will be honored with their rings for winning the Big East Tournament.

    In other Big East news, Matt Pauls, coach of the NJABC 2010 team, reports that Seton Hall assistant coach Scott Adubato is now interested, but has not offered, 6-8 junior Markus Kennedy of St. Patrick.

    Kennedy was instrumental in the Celtics winning several summer titles, including the Hoop Group Showcase at Rutgers. He lists Rutgers and Villanova as his leaders.
