When Essence Carson and Matee Ajavon meet on the basketball court tonight at the Reliant Center in Houston, dinner will likely be on the line.
“It’s a good idea. I am kind of hungry,” Carson, a rookie guard for the Liberty from Paterson, N.J., said in a recent phone interview.
The last time these former Rutgers teammates faced off in a WNBA game was in June at Madison Square Garden. Carson’s Liberty beat Ajavon’s Comets, and Ajavon ended up footing the dinner meal.
In other Rutgers news, the schedule for the women’s team has been released and some key dates jump out: Dec. 8 vs. Georgia; Jan. 3 vs. Tennessee; Feb. 3 at UConn; March 2 vs. UConn. Anytime Andy Landers, Pat Summitt and Geno Auriemma come to town, there’s bound to be some excitement.
