As first reported here in June, Hashim “Big City” Bailey is transferring to UMass from Memphis.

“I’m going to be here,” Bailey, a 6-foot-10, 273-pound forward from Paterson, N.J., told The Republican (Mass.).  “Playing behind Joey Dorsey at Memphis, I wasn’t going to get much playing time. I’ve had to wait my turn,” he said.

Derek Kellogg, a former Calipari assistant, is the new head coach at UMass, but he could not comment because the transfer is not finalized.

Bailey played in just nine games in two years at Memphis, averaging 1.1 points and 0.9 rebounds He has two blocked shots and one steal. He played his high school ball at Passaic County Tech in Wayne, N.J. and then prepped under Chris Chaney at The Patterson (N.C.) School.has transferred to UMass from Memphis.
