  • Momo Jones Update

I caught up with Lamont “MomoJones last week at the Steve Nash Nike Skills Academy in New Jersey.

The one-time Louisville commit says he learned a great deal from Nash, is “wide open” on college and will likely follow Tony Bergeron to Blair Christian for his final high school season.

Nash emphasized the importance of the pick-and-roll and of changing speeds to the 10 college and 20 prep point guards in attendance. Jones competed alongside Lance Stephenson, John Wall, Doron Lamb, Kenny Boynton and others.

“Not many people have the experience to say that they worked with STeve Nash,” the 6-foot, 196-pound Jones said. “And I think it’s a privilege to work with him. I’ll never take that for granted. I’ll always use that.”

Jones recently visited Seton Hall for a couple of hours but said he’s not thinking too much about colleges.

“It was a good visit,” he said. “Right now, I’m not really thinking about college. Just focusing on high school. Finishing up my senior year. I’m pretty open to anybody right now. (I have) no preliminary list right now.”

Jones played alongside Tyreke Evans last year at American Christian (Pa.), but the high school wing of that school is closing down and Bergeron is moving the team to nearby Blair Christian, which took American Christian’s spot in the PrimeTime Shootout.

“Wherever Coach Bergeron ends up or I feel comfortable for me, that’s where I’ll go,” Jones said. “I’ll probably make that decision two or so weeks before school.”

In the meantime, Jones will compete at the LeBron James US Skills Academy and than in the Peach Jam and the Nike Global Challenge. He also mentioned working out with Sebastian Telfair later this summer in Vegas.
