  • Hofstra’s Welsh Resigns

    Hofstra coach Tim Welsh has resigned before ever coaching a single game at the school.

    “Tim Welsh today tendered his resignation as the Hofstra University men’s basketball coach.  The University accepted the resignation in the best interests of the University and of the men’s basketball program,” read a release from the school.

    The former Providence and Iona coach was suspended indefinitely without pay Friday after Nassau County police found him asleep at the wheel early Friday morning and charged him with DWI.
