Four-star forward Jayon Connor has committed to Wake Forest, On3’s Joe Tipton first reported on Friday.
Conner, who’s a 6-foot-7 forward from Forsyth Country Day (NC), chose the Demon Deacons over NC State, Virginia Tech and Clemson, among others.
Despite lacking the size of a conventional power forward, Connor possesses one of the best motors in the class of 2027 and brings an elite edge to the floor. He’s also one of the most underrated and skilled rebounders in the country, averaging 8.5 rebounds per game on the Nike EYBL circuit.
During his junior year of high school, Connor averaged 20 points, 9.4 rebounds, 1.9 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game while leading Forsyth Country Day to the North Carolina state tournament.
247Sports’ Adam Finkelstein tabbed Connor as one of the best defenders in the class but said his biggest need for improvement is his offensive skillset.
Connor is Wake Forest’s second commit in the class of 2027, joining four-star Quincy Douby Jr. to round out head coach Steve Forbes’ class thus far.
He’s rated as a four-star recruit and ranked as the No. 83 overall prospect in the nation according to 247Sports.
