With his commitment to Toledo this afternoon, Class of 2027 guard Tony Cornett III becomes the most highly ranked recruit in the program’s recent memory.
A big guard at 6-foot-7, Cornett had interest from Ohio State and offers on the table from Ohio, Dayton, LaSalle, Miami of Ohio, Duquesne and several others.
The chance to translate instantly was an appealing factor for the four-star recruit, who averaged 15.4 points and 4.2 rebounds entering the UAA finals in Georgia this past week.
“Toledo usually allows bigger guards to play their games, and really play the way they’ve been playing a majority of their lives,” Cornett told ZAGSBLOG.
“(The Toledo staff) showed me the most love throughout my recruitment and also to my family as well.”
A versatile scoring threat with a mid post game, Cornett has been a focal point and stat sheet stuffing presence for Nova Village on the UAA circuit.
His ability to impact several categories of the stat sheet significantly and simultaneously break open games with his scoring has been evident, most notably during a performance of 31 points, eight rebounds, and six assists earlier during the 2026 AAU season.
Hovering around the Top-100 national rankings, Cornett has been a double double threat at Westerville North HS (Oh.).
He has helped spearhead the punlic school program to a 51-4 record during his sophomore and junior seasons.
