Rutgers has officially added Italian guard/forward Diego Garavaglia to its roster, per release.

Garavaglia, a 6-foot-7 native of Milan, Italy, spent his 2025-26 season playing professionally in Germany for Ratiopharm Ulm.

At just 19, he appeared in 33 games for the club where he averaged 2.8 points and 1.7 rebounds per game.

“I’m really excited to be part of this team. Rutgers is a very important program, and we play in the best league in the country,” Garavaglia said in the release. “I chose Rutgers because of Coach Pikiell, the environment, the people, the arena — everything. I also talked with fellow Italian native Dorin (Buca), and he spoke very highly about the program. That was one of the most important things in my decision.”

Representing his home country at the FIBA U18 European Championship, he also averaged 14.3 points and 7.6 rebounds for Italy in the tournament.

“Diego is a versatile, high-motor forward who has been competing against professionals since he was 16 years old,” said Rutgers head coach Steve Pikiell. “He defends multiple positions, plays with great toughness and has a feel for the game beyond his years. He fits everything we value in our program, and our staff is thrilled to welcome him to the Rutgers family.”

In addition to the pickup of Garavaglia, Rutgers has also landed commitments from three-star Imahri Wooten, Slovenian forward Martin Tonejc, Coastal Carolina transfer RaSheed Jones, Manhattan transfer Will Sydnor, Kansas State transfer Dorin Buca, Virginia Tech transfer Christian Gurdak, Central Connecticut State transfer Darin Smith Jr. and New Mexico State Lewis Duarte.
