Kansas has officially signedToledo transfer Leroy Blyden Jr., the school announced on April 22.

Blyden, a 6-foot-1 guard from Detroit, averaged 16.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game during his freshman campaign for the Rockets this season. The Detroit native scored in double figures in 24 contests with 13 contests of 20 points or more, including a career-high 36 points against Western Michigan (12/30). Blyden had eight games with six or more assists, including a career-high 13 assists against Buffalo (3/6).

“We felt Leroy was one of the very best guard prospects in the portal, period,” head coach Bill Self said. “He had a great year at Toledo and was the freshman of the year in his league. He can score, he shoots it with range, and he’s efficient. He can be the lead guard and a scoring guard. His ability to make plays and get his shoulders past you is something we really need.”

Blyden was named to the 2026 MAC All-Tournament Team where he averaged 18.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.7 steals in three games as Toledo finished runner-up in the event.

The MAC Freshman of the Year, Blyden visited Kansas and also visited St. John’s before ultimately committing to the Jayhawks.

He averaged 18.6 points per game in Toledo’s three games in Cleveland at the MAC Tournament, leading his team to the championship round before losing to Akron.

Ranked as the No. 86 overall transfer on 247Sports’ transfer portal rankings, Blyden will go to Kansas as its potential second starting guard next season, alongside Tay Kinney.

In addition to Blyden, Kansas also landed a commitment from Utah transfer Keanu Dawes, who will help fill the void from the losses of Flory Bidunga and Bryson Tiller.
