Oakland beat Milwaukee 83-76 to win the Horizon League Championship thanks to big man Trey Townsend’s 38 points and 11 rebounds.

Head coach Greg Kampe leads the Golden Grizzlies to their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. Kampe is the longest-tenured coach in Division I and has been at the helm of Oakland for 40 seasons, overseeing their transition to Division I in 1999.

Senior guard Jack Gohlke was an unsung hero, coming off the bench and scoring 15 points on five three-pointers.

The game started out with both squads trading buckets until the end of the first half. The back-and-forth continued into the second half, but the Golden Grizzlies ultimately used a mini 8-2 closing run to go up six with just a minute left.
