  • Anthony Davis will visit Kentucky and Syracuse later this summer before making his college choice.

As first reported by ZAGSBLOG last month, Davis’s final three remains Kentucky, Syracuse and Ohio State but he has only seen Ohio State.

“We’re still working on the top three,” Anthony Davis Sr. said Monday by phone. “He wants to go see Syracuse and Kentucky.”

Davis, a 6-foot-9, 187-pound forward from Chicago Perspectives Charter School, is currently at the LeBron James Skills Academy in Akron.

Up until this holiday weekend, my favorite college basketball  name was Just-in’ Love Smith of Siena.

You can’t beat ‘Just-in’ Love,’ can you?

    Turns out you can.

My new favorite college basketball name is God’s Gift Achiuwa.

That’s right. His name is God’s Gift and he’s  a 6-foot-9 Nigerian forward from Erie Community College in Buffalo, N.Y. He is being recruited by St. John’s, among others.

“Nigeria is a very, very religious country,” said Joe Boncore, who mentors numerous Nigerian players but has no connection to Achiuwa. “They are devout Catholics. You gotta have religion because where they’re coming from, it’s pretty bad.”

David Lee had a lengthy meeting Saturday with the Minnesota Timberwolves and now awaits a meeting with the Nets, his agent Mark Bartelstein said.

“The Minnesota meeting went really well,” he said Sunday by phone. “He was there literally all day.”

Lee spent about nine hours in the Twin Cities, catching some of the Rays-Twins game with team president David Kahn and head coach Kurt Rambis before grabbing an evening flight home, the AP reported. Bartelstein declined to say if the Timberwolves made an offer.

“We had a very good meeting with David Lee today,” Kahn said in a statement issued by the team. “We enjoyed getting to know David and providing him an opportunity to hear our vision for our team, and his potential role with us. This was the first step in the process and we will be in contact with his representatives later this week.”

NEW YORK — Under head coach Jay Wright, Villanova has become known as Guard U.

The Wildcats landed yet another great guard from New Jersey when Tyrone Johnson of Plainfield High School made his verbal commitment exclusively on SNY.tv.

“I’ll be going to Villanova University,” the 6-foot-3, 189-pound Johnson said.” I chose Villanova because it’s a great program. Coach Wright is real great at what he does. I think Villanova is a great fit for me and my family as well and I think it can take me to the next level and where I want to be.”

Johnson, the No. 16 point guard in the Class of 2011 according to Rivals.com, chose Villanova over Rutgers and Georgetown.

With Amar’e Stoudemire apparently headed to the Knicks, David Lee looks to be on his way out.

Lee and his agent, Mark Bartelstein, met for about two hours each Friday in Chicago with representatives from the Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat.

“They both made great presentations,”  Bartelstein said by phone. “You’ve got to give them credit. They put a lot of time and effort into it. They made David feel terrific.”

Lee and Bartelstein will meet Saturday with the Minnesota Timberwolves in Minnesota before meeting with the Nets later in the weekend.
