Kentucky has secured its fifth transfer portal acquisition.
Florida transfer Denzel Aberdeen will play for the Wildcats next season. The school announced the signing Tuesday after he committed Monday.
“Denzel is a winner, in every sense of the word.” head coach Mark Pope said. “He has won at every level of basketball and that’s all that he talks about. Zel is a great young man who works for everything he earns. He’s a three-level scorer and a rangy defender who has tremendous length.”
The 6-foot-5 guard averaged 7.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game for the Gators in his junior season. Aberdeen has played all three seasons of his collegiate career at Florida.
While he will wear a different jersey next season, he will still compete in the SEC.
In Pope’s first season as the program’s head coach, he led Kentucky to its first Sweet 16 appearance since 2019.
The Wildcats have also signed Pitt transfer Jaland Lowe, Arizona State transfer Jayden Quaintance, Tulane transfer Kam Williams and Alabama transfer Mo Dioubate.
