Duke fans everywhere are holding their breath. Star freshman Cooper Flagg, a frontrunner for National Player of the Year and the ACC Player of the Year, left the Blue Devils’ quarterfinal game against Georgia Tech with a left ankle injury.
The injury was sustained at the 2:46-mark of the first half as Flagg skied for a rebound. He was helped to the locker room and couldn’t put any weight on it.
Flagg was spotted in a wheel chair after heading to the locker room and has a sprained left ankle, according to the ESPN broadcast. He was being wheeled to the X-ray room. Georgia Tech led at halftime 31-26. Flagg exited with two points, four rebounds and two steals. Flagg was spotted back on the bench with tape on his ankle and was able to walk on his own to the bench. He received a big ovation when he came out of the tunnel. Flagg did not return vs. Georgia Tech. “He sprained his ankle,” Duke head coach Jon Scheyer said postgame. “X-rays were negative, which is great.
