Mikel Brown Jr., the No. 7 overall prospect in the 2025 class, has signed with Pat Kelsey and Louisville.

The 6-foot-3, 175-pound guard from DME Academy (FL) is the nation’s No. 7 player in the Class of 2025 and the No. 2 point guard, according to 247Sports. He is No. 9 according to On3 and No. 11 in ESPN’s 100.

“We are excited to welcome Mikel Brown, the nation’s top high school point guard, and his incredible family to The Ville,” Kelsey said, per the school. “Mikel is a generational talent. He transforms the game and embodies everything we stand for as a program. His skill, vision and leadership on the court are unmatched, but it’s his character, humility and heart that truly set him apart. Mikel’s commitment to his craft is relentless, and his dedication to this program and to the city of Louisville will be top tier. The Brown family’s belief in our vision for Mikel means the world to us, and we are excited to see Mikel cement his legacy amongst the Louisville greats.”

This is Louisville’s first commit in the 2025 cycle and a huge get for Kelsey, who’s coaching his first season for the Cardinals. Brown is the highest rated prospect in Louisville history according to 247Sports’ rankings that started in 2010. Over the summer, the guard averaged averaged 23.5 points, 3.4 assists and 3.1 rebounds for Team Loaded in 11 games on the 3SSB circuit.

Brown attended the Louisville game vs. North Carolina, and his signing was announced during a TV timeout. The crowd treated him to an ovation.

Brown has an NIL deal signed with Adidas and Louisville is sponsored by that shoe brand. Brown is also close with Donovan Mitchell, who is sponsored by Adidas.
