Dixon is down to Arizona, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Virginia and Vanderbilt. He visited Vanderbilt in late August and canceled a visit to Arizona on Sept. 12. He has already seen Pittsburgh and Virginia officially (April 2024), as well as Syracuse (October 2023). As for his game, Dixon has one of the purest looking jump shots in the 2025 class. He averaged 13.9 points, 3.4 assists and 2.1 rebounds at Peach Jam in seven games with Team Takeover. Dixon’s squad fell in the Peach semifinals and finished the summer with an overall record of 20-2. Dixon is ranked the No. 58 overall prospect in the 2025 class by 247Sports and the No. 3 player from Washington, D.C. Class of 2025 four-star point guard Derek Dixon is closing in on a college decision after visiting North Carolina over the weekend.
“[I will have] a little bit of downtime just to get with my family and make this decision,” he said Monday via text.
He previously told ZAGSBLOG he’s eyeing a decision on Sept. 27.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound guard from Gonzaga (D.C.) and the Team Takeover Nike EYBL AAU program enjoyed his trip to Carolina.
“The visit was good,” he said. “I like all the guys on the team, the facilities were nice and their main message was that I’m their priority and there’s a want and need for what I bring.”
