After starting the season at Oak Hill (VA) Academy, class of 2024 four-star guard Tyler Bailey has put together an all-around season since moving to Mount Tabor (NC) midseason.

The 6-foot-3, 170-pound combo guard is ranked by 247Sports.com as the No. 7 combo guard and No. 57 overall prospect in the class of 2024.

“I would (the transfer) was just getting prepared for the AAU season,” Bailey said. “Coming in, I knew I would be in a different role from what I was at Oak Hill. That was more so preparation.”

Bailey, a big combo guard that can shoot, come off screens and read defenses, currently holds offers from the likes of Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Creighton, Temple, VCU and Texas A&M.

“I’m more of a pace guy,” he said. “I don’t go as fast. I get my teammates involved. I play solid defense. I’m a leader on the court.”

He broke down each school involved:

Wake Forest: “Coach (Steve) Forbes is a straight up person. He’s very relatable. He talks to his guys, has meetings with them and he tries to have me on campus as much as he can when I’m home. He’s trying to build a relationship with me and my family.”

Virginia Tech: “Coach (Christian) Webster calls me a couple times here and there. I feel like I can fit in as a guard. I like to shoot the ball. Their guards shoot the ball, heavily from the perimeter. I feel like I could fit in at Virginia Tech.”

Creighton: Me and coach Jalen Courtney talk every week on Thursday. We’re just building a relationship. We’re clicking all the time. We talk about practice. We talk about a lot – my game, my family and just the little things. They’re really family-oriented.”

Temple: “My old coach from Oak Hill hooked me up with them. I kind of got that offer from them. They looked at me and thought I could fit in with them. They’re tough guards.”

VCU: “Coach (J.D.) Byers and I talked a month ago. It was in the tournament. I wished them good luck. My AAU team plays out in Richmond, so they try to get me up on campus as much as they can and show me some love.”

Texas A&M: “We’re currently working on a visit to get there. We talk to them from time to time.”

As far as visits, Bailey says he’s definitely going to make the trip to Texas A&M and may visit Wake Forest again.

“I live like maybe five or 10 minutes from Wake,” he said.

When making his decision, Bailey says he’s looking at development as a guard and his relationship with the coaches.

“I feel like that’s big because you have to feel comfortable with who’s coaching you,” he said. “You’re going to have to be around them for a good amount of time. The place and the playing style of where you’re at is the biggest piece.”
