John Camden, the 6-foot-8 forward from Brewster (NH) Academy, has committed to Memphis.

Ranked the No. 24 small forward in 2021 in the 247Sports.com Composite, he also considered Indiana, Miami, Nebraska, and Virginia Tech.

“I chose Memphis because of their personal development program, along with the knowledge on staff is unmatched,” he said ahead of his public commitment. “I will be a versatile wing and knockdown shooter.”

Camden averaged 18 points and 7.5 rebounds while shooting 40 percent from beyond the arc last season at Archbishop Carroll (PA) before transferring to Brewster.

Camden joins wing Josh Minott in Memphis’ class. They’re also in strong position to land St. Louis wing Jordan Nesbitt on Thursday and big man Sam Ayomide down the road. Camden said he is recruiting Ayomide.

“John is a gym rat,” Brewster coach Jason Smith said. “He loves to be in the gym and work daily. He’s a tremendous shooter and has an excellent understanding of the game of basketball. He’s demonstrated great leadership in our program and community the short time he’s been on campus. I’m excited for him and his bright future.”

“He has an uncanny ability to shoot the ball at a high level,” Carroll coach Francis Bowe said. “If you leave him open it’s going in. His shot is already consistent from NBA range.”

“John is going to make a lot of noise in college!”
