Kansas is the latest high-major program to offer Simeon Wilcher, the 6-foot-4 point guard from Roselle (N.J.) Catholic and the PSA Cardinals.

Wilcher is expected to do a Zoom call with Kansas head coach Bill Self soon, his father Sergio said.

“They spoke of all their previous success with point guards,” said Sergio Wilcher. “They told him how offensive freedom comes with a price tag of defense and they explained to him the competitive nature of the Big 12 and why they are able to win it regularly.”

He also recently picked up an offer from Miami.

At No. 8, Wilcher is one of four New Jersey players ranked in the 2023 ESPN 25.

“Sim is a tremendous talent with almost unlimited upside,” RC coach Dave Boff said. “His skillset combined with his athleticism and positional size is a very rare combination. He is also an extremely hard-worker who is always getting better.”

The younger brother of incoming Xavier freshman C.J. Wilcher, Wilcher recently told ZAGSBLOG four schools were prioritizing him: Iowa, Oregon, Auburn and St. John’s.

Oregon: “Speaking to Coach [Dana] Altman, hearing him tell me about his style of play and the goal for all of his players made me realize I could definitely play for him.”

Auburn: “Sees me as being a big-time player who could flourish in their program.”

Iowa: “The coaching staff at Iowa explained to me how much they enjoyed my game. They love how I play both sides of the ball, and they relayed to me that they can’t wait to see how much I grow and develop !”

St. John’s: “He’s a big point guard, he’s local and they run up and down,” Sergio said.
