Kendall Brown, the 6-foot-7 small forward from Sunrise Christian Academy (KS), told ZAGSBLOG in a Zoom Interview Tuesday that his recruitment is ‘wide open’.

Brown also said that Ohio State, Marquette, Illinois, Minnesota, Kansas, Arizona and Maryland are the main schools that he’s been hearing from.

Ohio State: “Pretty much just how they’re going to use me. They’ve been showing me a lot of film of where I could fit in and help the team.”

Marquette: “Pretty much the same thing. I’m just building strong relationships with them right now and they’re talking about how they’d use me.”

Illinois: “I’ve just always liked them and their style of play. They’ve got big guards and I’ve always liked that.”

Minnesota: “That’s the hometown, you know. Growing up there, the whole Minnesota thing. That’s my hometown.”

Kansas: “Pretty much just how they see me fitting in, my potential and how they would develop me.”

Maryland: “I’ve had a great relationship with the coaches there. We’ve been talking for a while now so I’m just continuing to build a relationship with them.”

Arizona: “The way they would see me fitting in with the league. I’m a fast player, they play fast and just their tempo and style of play would really fit me. They’re recruiting me hard now.”

Brown spoke with coaches from Kansas over the phone Tuesday. He has also had a zoom call with Marquette and conducted virtual visits with Arkansas, Ohio State and Arizona.

Brown is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 5 small forward and No. 16 overall player in the Class of 2021.

“I was going to wait to see what happens with AAU,” Brown said. “If AAU gets canceled, I’ll most likely cut my list in the summer.”

This past season, Brown helped lead Sunrise Christian to a 22-3 record and an invite to GEICO Nationals as a No. 3 seed.

“It really hurt because we did a lot this year as a team and really had a chance to go win it as the No. 3 seed in GEICO [Nationals],” Brown said. “I really feel for the seniors because this was their last year and it was cut short due to all of this.”

Brown says he’s been focusing on improving his jump shot and footwork during this time, as well as building strength.

“I’ve just been lifting every day,” Brown said. “I’m definitely trying to get stronger during this time period. We’ve got a hoop outside for shooting and then I’ve bene going for runs.”
