Xavier Foster, the 6-foot-11 power forward from Oskaloosa (IA) High School, committed to Iowa State over Iowa on Monday.
According to 247Sports, Foster is ranked as the No. 10 center in the Class of 2020 and the No. 1 player from the state of Iowa. Kansas, Duke, USC and Baylor had previously been involved.
“We took some time [Sunday] to discuss pros and cons of going each way, but at the end of the day there really isn’t very many cons,” his father Dejuan told IndiansNetwork.tv. “Two great schools, two great staffs. So it was just what he felt more comfortable with and I guess he just felt more comfortable heading over to Ames.”
He joins point guard Jaden Walker, shooting guard Darlinstone Dubar and small forward Dudley Blackwell in Iowa State’s 2020 class.
“He’s a rebounder, shot-blocker who can actually stretch the floor,” his father Dejuan told IndiansNetwork.tv. He shoots the ball pretty well for a 7-foot kid and he’s really mobile.”
