D.J. Jeffries, the 6-foot-7 foot small forward from Olive Branch (MS), has committed to Kentucky, he announced Monday evening.

Jeffries is the first pledge of the 2019 recruiting class for Kentucky and chose the ‘Cats over Mississippi State and Alabama.

“What appealed to me most was how much their fans care about the team,” Jeffries told D1 Vision about Kentucky in October. “I also liked how everybody on the team and staff is a family.”

Playing for Team Penny last year on the Nike EYBL Circuit with top recruit James Wiseman, Jeffries averaged 11.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game while leading his team to a 10-6 record.

“They said that there are really no positions as long as you can play and do the basic stuff,” Jeffries said. “If you know how to play with other good players then you’ll be able to fit in the system.

According to 247Sports.com, Jeffries is the No. 26 recruit in the class of 2019 and the No. 1 player from the state of Mississippi.
