Armando Bacot, the 2019 power forward from Trinity Episcopal (VA) School and Team (VA) Loaded, spoke with D1VISION on Thursday about what he likes about Duke after picking up an offer from the Blue Devils on Tuesday.

“I know that Duke is a great program,” said Bacot. They have arguably the greatest coach of all-time. I like Duke because of the history and their coach, Coach [Mike Krzyzewski].”

Bacot, who currently holds nearly 40 offers, told D1Vision that Duke, Kansas, Oklahoma State, VCU, Villanova, UCLA, and Virginia Tech are the schools working the hardest for his recruitment. After speaking about his Duke offer, Bacot broke down the other schools for D1VISION:

Kansas: “They’ve got a rich history with big men. Frank Mason III went to Kansas so they have a good connection with Team Loaded.”

Oklahoma State: “Coach [DavidKontaxis and coach Mike [Boynton Jr.] are both good dudes. They really have a good plan for me if I were to come there. Coach Kontaxis used to be a Team Loaded coach so having a prior relationship with him helps.”

VCU: “They are like ten minutes away from me. Coach [MikeRhoades and coach [JDByers are cool guys. The atmosphere is crazy. I can tell they really want me.”

Villanova: “Coach [JayWright and their assistant coaches have been recruiting me hard. Coach Wright really likes my game and thinks I could be a really good player.”

UCLA: “Coach [SteveAlford and Coach [DavidGrace offered me during the first live period this year. UCLA is a great area. They’ve got the most national championships. I know coach Alford gets a lot of players to the NBA.”

Virginia Tech: “Coach [ChristianWebster was the first coach to offer me. I know he’s been big on my game. I know if I went there, he’d really look out for me.”

Although he is a long way from making his college decision, Bacot has already been considering cutting down his list, as he said, “I have been putting thought into it but I’m not sure. I was thinking about it but I’m not completely sure if I’m ready to do that yet.”

Bacot also spoke about what he’s looking for in a school, as he said, “I want to go to a school where I can come in and play,” said Bacot.  “I want to come in and have an impact but also win and possibly be a one and done. I also want a good educational school.”

According to 247Sports, Bacot is ranked as the No. 26 overall player in the Class of 2019 and the No. 1 player from the state of Virginia. Although he has no upcoming visits planned, he is hoping to make some in the future, as he said, “I want to plan a visit to go visit Louisville and Kentucky. I want to go to Oklahoma State too.”
