Immanuel Quickley and Zion Williamson continue to talk about potentially playing together in college — but don’t call them a package deal.

“We’re not a package deal,” Williamson told USA Today at the Adidas Nations event in Houston where the two Class of 2018 studs teamed up on USA Red 2018. “We have definitely talked about playing together in college and I want to play with him, but it’s gotta be an individual decision. He’s a great player so it makes sense and some of the schools he’s looking at are recruiting me too.

“I definitely want to be in a situation where I’m playing with players that are getting me better every day by pushing me and vice versa. He knows I have to do what’s best for me in the end and he does too. That’s why we’re not saying it’s a legit package deal.”

Package deals are frequently discussed but rarely come to fruition. Already this summer, Class of 2018 Sports U teammates Jahvon Quinerly and Naz Reid have discussed the possibility, as have Class of 2019 stars Bryan Antoine and Scottie Lewis of Team Rio and the Ranney School. All four of those players hail from New Jersey.

The 6-foot-7 Williamson is the No. 2-ranked player in the Class of 2018 behind Marvin Bagley, while the 6-3 Quickley is No. 15. Quickley will visit Kansas (Sept. 1-3), Miami (Sept. 8-10) and Kentucky (Sept. 15-17) and is also considering Maryland. Kentucky is considered the favorite.

Williamson hasn’t trimmed his list or set any visits yet.

“Playing with Zion is exactly what most people would think it is,” Quickley said. “He’s a walking assist and that’s exciting for me because I love to pass. Most people know him for his crazy dunking ability but he can just play, period. Definitely one of the best players I’ve ever played with. We’re roommates here at Nations and we pretty much talk or text every day. We definitely want to play together. We talk about that too.”
