Reggie Perry, the 6-foot-9 small forward from Thomasville (GA) High School, committed to Mississippi State on Monday, he announced in a video via FanRag Sports. Perry recently decommitted from Arkansas due to “personal health issues” with his father.

“After much prayer, thought, and discussion with my family, I’ve decided to commit to playing my college career with Mississippi State University,” said Perry in the video. “I believe that Coach [Ben] Howland and the staff can help me achieve my goals as a student athlete and becoming a pro. My family can attend my games, support me, and I get to continue my father’s legacy by wearing a Bulldog uniform.”

Perry’s father, Al Perry played point guard for the Mississippi State Bulldogs in the late 70’s. “It was about the coaching staff and I wanted to continue my dad’s legacy there,” Perry told 247Sports. “That was a big factor for me.”

According to 247Sports, Perry is ranked as the No. 15 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 1 player from the state of Georgia. He is the first commit in the Bulldog’s 2018 class, already giving them a top-20 recruiting class.

Playing with the Arkansas Hawks on the Adidas Gauntlett this summer, Perry has averaged 17 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game, in eight games played. He has helped lead the Hawks to a 7-8 record on the circuit.

INDIANA LANDS DAMEZI ANDERSON AND JEROME HUNTER

After landing Race Thompson on Sunday, the Indiana Hoosiers continued their hot streak on the recruiting trail Monday, landing four-stars Damezi Anderson and Jerome Hunter.

Hunter, the 6-foot-7 small forward from Pickering (OH) High School North, announced his commitment to Archie Miller and the Hoosiers via Twitter. Zach Fleer of 270 Hoops was the first to report the news. Soon after, 2018 Damezi Anderson also committed to the Hoosiers.

“It was a number of factors but one has to be Jerome’s relationship with Archie [Miller] dating back to Dayton,” Hunter’s trainer, Andreas James told Rivals. “They were one of the first schools to offer Jerome and they kind of hit it off from there.”

Anderson and Hunter are the first two commits in Indiana’s 2018 class, giving them a top-ten recruiting class according to 247Sports. Hunter is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 60 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 2 player from the state of Ohio, while Anderson is ranked as the No. 91 overall player in the class and the No. 3 player from the state of Indiana.

“I have decided to commit to Indiana,” Anderson told Scout.com. “I just felt like it was the perfect fit for me and I really like the coaching staff.”

“I just felt like their style and how they use their guards and forwards works with my game,” said Anderson. “Also it is close to home and I am a hometown kid.”
