  • Report: Houston Rockets looking to trade for Carmelo Anthony

Having signed James Harden to a four-year, $228-million “super-extension,” the Houston Rockets are now focusing on adding Knicks star Carmelo Anthony via trade, according to ESPN.

Anthony, who has a full no-trade clause, is considering waiving the no-trade in order to land either with his buddy LeBron James in Cleveland or his other buddy Chris Paul in Houston, per ESPN. Anthony has two years and $54 million remaining on his contract, plus an $8.1 million trade kicker if he gets dealt.

“That is a real possibility,” La La Anthony told Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen. “So we’ll see what happens, I’m watching like everybody else. Every day, it’s like a different team. My hope is that he ends up somewhere where he’s happy and he can win, because he’s such an incredible player and he deserves to win.”

There has been a massive shift of talent from the NBA Eastern Conference to the West, most recently including Jimmy Butler getting traded to Minnesota from Chicago and Paul George going to Oklahoma City from Indiana. Should Anthony land in Houston, he would continue that trend.

Anthony is an eight-time NBA All-Star, but the Knicks are focusing on going young and rebuilding around Kristaps Porzingis, sources told FanRagSports.com.

The Knicks earlier Saturday signed former wing Tim Hardaway Jr. to a four-year, $71-million deal after the Atlanta Hawks declined to match the offer.
