  • Trevon Duval Wins MVP at Hoophall Classic, Says Visits Coming Soon

    Share Zagsblog Share Zagsblog
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.Trevon Duval has yet to take an official visit, but that is apparently about to change.

“I’m getting ready to take some visits coming up soon,” the 6-foot-3 IMG Academy (FL) point guard said after posting a double-double of 12 points and 13 assists en route to MVP honors as IMG handled Wasatch Academy (UT), 61-51, on Sunday at the Hoophall Classic.

“My dad has all of the dates and everything…Some of them are in season and I might finish out some after the season.”

Duval continues to list Duke, Kansas, Arizona, Baylor and Seton Hall as his top five.

“I’m not too worried about it, I’m focused on other things,” he said of the recruiting process.

The situation vis-a-vis Duke should gain some clarity here on Monday after point guard Matt Coleman of Oak Hill Academy (VA) announces for either Duke or Texas.

Meantime, the Blue Devils are still in touch with Duval, the projected No. 6 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft by DraftExpress.com.

“Mainly just to come in as a point guard because they say they need a point guard and come in and run the show,” Duval said of Duke’s message.

As for Arizona, they already have the No. 3 class in 2017 per Scout.com, highlighted by three players who competed here on Saturday in DeAndre Ayton, Brandon Randolph and Ira Lee.

“Same as Duke’s, come in and run the show,” he said of their message. “They need a point guard and play their type of solid play.”

Seton Hall is closer to home and Duval is also pretty close with freshman shooting guard Myles Powell.

“Basically everyone needs a point guard,” he said. “They had a game [Saturday against Providence] and they were saying they needed a point guard to help them out.”

As for Powell, Duval said, “Myles works me a little bit but then again he tries to even it out because he doesn’t want to get too involved in it.”

Big 12 programs Kansas and Baylor are also in the mix.

“Kansas, they want me to come in and help them be a better team,” he said. “And same thing with Baylor. Baylor needs a point guard. They took a pretty bad loss a couple days ago and they said they needed a point guard to help them make plays and run the show.”
