Quentin Grimes, the 6-foot-4, 2018 shooting guard from The Woodlands College Park (TX) High School, says Baylor, Kansas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and Arizona are the five schools recruiting him the hardest.

“I really like all those schools and watch closely how they let their guards play and run the show,” said Grimes. He has taken unofficial visits to Texas A&M (Oct. 8) and Arizona (Oct. 14).

He has no upcoming visits planned.

THREE WORKING HARDEST FOR JALEN CAREY

Jalen Carey, the 6-foot-3 2018 point guard from Immaculate Conception (NJ) High School, says Kansas, Notre Dame, and Seton Hall are the three schools working the hardest for his recruitment.

“I like they way that they let their guards play and I have a good connection with the coaches,” said Carey. “Kansas and Seton Hall hit me up almost every day,”

Carey says he has no timetable for when he will commit but he is aiming towards the end of his junior year or the start of his senior year.

    WASHINGTON VISITING SYRACUSE

Howard Washington, the 6-2 senior point guard from Athlete Institute (Ontario) and CIA Bounce, will attend Syracuse’s game Saturday with Boston College.

Syracuse badly needs a point guard of the future after missing out on Quade Green to Kentucky. The Orange are also in the mix for Putnam Science Academy (CT) point guard Eric Ayala, who is considering reclassifying to 2017 from 2018.

Washington and 2020 teammate Mabeny Naam also both picked up offers from Tulane on Friday, per head coach Chris Cobbina.

Washington will visit Syracuse with 6-9 teammate Oshae Brissett, who has already signed in Syracuse’s 2017 class. For more on Brissett, read my New York Times piece here.

    TRACI CARTER VISITING LA SALLE

Former Marquette guard Traci Carter is on an official visit to La Salle this weekend after recently visiting Iona.

The 6-foot point guard from Philadelphia appeared in eight games this season, including four starts, averaging 4.3 points, 3.6 assists and 2.1 rebounds in 16.3 minutes.

Carter native missed Marquette’s final two games before their break for final exams due to left knee soreness, per the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. He said he wanted to transfer to be closer to home.

“A big factor that played into me transferring is my family,” Carter told the Journal-Sentinel earlier this month. “I wanted to be closer to my family. There’s an old saying, ‘Nothing lasts forever.’ So I think it was just my time to go. …

“It’s been tough being away from my family, so far (away). I miss them a lot, so that’s been tough. There’s been some problems back home.”

    FREE THROWS

UConn assistant coach Dwayne Killings was at Mt. Carmel last night for John Carroll Class of 2018 guard Montez Mathis, who is also being recruited hard by Rutgers and UCF.
