GARDEN GROVE, Calif. — Wendell Carter Jr. and Gary Trent Jr. reiterated that they still plan to attend college together.

“A package deal is still the plan,” Carter Jr. said Friday at the Adidas Nations event here, reiterating comments Trent Jr. made earlier this month at Peach Jam.

The 6-foot-6 Trent, who hopes to cut his list after Adidas Nations, also has the package deal on his mind, saying, “The package deal is most definitely on. He was actually my roommate at the Nike Academy and he’s my roommate before we go, so we have continue to bond and grow as people.”

Trent listed Michigan State, Ohio State, Duke, Kentucky, Arizona, UCLA, and Alabama as the schools recruiting him the hardest. Of those schools, Carter has Duke, Kentucky, and Arizona in his final eight.

The 6-10 Carter out of Atlanta (GA) Pace Academy broke down six of his top eight schools for SNY.Tv:

Duke: “It speaks for itself. It’s a great school, great academic school. Coach K is a wonderful coach.”

Harvard: “It’s great academic school. It’s probably not the best athletic school, but they did well last year with Coach [Tommy] Amaker, so I think it can work out.”

Cal: “West Coast school that is far from home. I have a great relationship with the coach. They have a great athletic program and are a great academic school.”

Georgia and Georgia Tech: “Both home schools. They are both great academic schools. I have a great relationship with both of the coaches.”

Arizona: “Another West Coast school that I’m looking at. I think it will be a lot of fun going out there.”

Carter did not mention a timetable for when he plans to commit, while Trent said he would like to make his decision in the fall.

“I want to commit before the season starts.” explained Trent. “I don’t want to go every game with questions about where I’m gonna go or commit. So I want to get that out of the way.”
