Kentucky sophomore point guard Tyler Ulis is OK following a hyperextended right elbow on Friday night, his father told SNY.tv. on Sunday.

“X-rays were normal,” James Ulis said by text.

James Ulis said he was uncertain if Tyler would play in Monday’s game against Illinois State and that it depends on what the doctors say. Kentucky’s next game after that is against UCLA on Thursday.

Ulis left Kentucky’s 84-63 victory over South Florida in the HoopHall Miami Invitational on Friday and was listed as day-to-day, a team spokesman said.

Asked how the team would do if Ulis were to miss an extended period of time, head coach John Calipari told reporters, “Not very good.”

The 5-foot-9 sophomore, who is averaging 14.2 points, 4.8 assists and 4.2 rebounds, got hurt while fighting for a loose ball on the floor.

Ulis is projected as the No. 38 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft by DraftExpress.com.

In his absence, freshman guard Jamal Murray had 21 points, freshman center Skal Labissiere tallied 17 and freshman guard Charles Matthews chipped in with 11. Freshman guard Isaiah Briscoe added seven assists for Kentucky (6-0), now a winner of 37 consecutive regular-season games and 39 in a row against unranked opponents.

“Somebody’s gotta step up and lead the team,” Murray said of losing Ulis, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader. “It was a valuable piece that we lost, obviously, but we were able to handle it by ourselves.”
