NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. — St. John’s coach Steve Lavin and his staff are out on the July recruiting trail.

They are here at the Nike Peach Jam focusing on 2012 St. Anthony point guard Kyle Anderson and 2012 Louisiana forward Ricardo Gathers — both of whom are 6-foot-8.

Lavin is not permitted to discuss specific recruits but in this video interview he talks about his summer recruiting approach, his goals for the 2012 class, the upcoming St. John’s season, which includes games with Kentucky and Duke, and the latest on his prostate cancer.

“I feel good,” he said. “I’m at a point now where I’ll get a biopsy here at the end of the summer, and it will be a comparative biopsy with the one I had a year ago in August. And then based off the results of the second biopsy, I’ll chart a course of treatment that’s appropriate for where this stage of cancer is.”
