Tony Wroten hasn’t committed to Kentucky quite yet, but he sure sounds like he wants to.

Wroten a 6-foot-6, 205-pound point guard out of Seattle (Wash.) Garfield, says Kentucky is “on top right now.”

He also listed Villanova, Washington, UConn and St. John’s.

Wroten is training with the USA U17 team in San Antonio, Texas. That team also features Kentucky commits Michael Gilchrist and Marquis Teague, the No. 1 and 2 players in the Rivals150 for the Class of 2011. Wroten is No. 6.

Gilchrist and Teague are pitching the attributes of the dribble-drive offense and working on getting Wroten to join them in what could be the strongest recruiting class in the history of college basketball.

“Yeah, he’s going to Kentucky,” Teague yelled into the phone as Wroten spoke with a reporter.

Wroten said he, Gilchrist and Teague are undefeated together in practice games with the U17 team.

He said he and Teague could be as good as — or “even better” than — Kentucky’s backcourt from last year of John Wall and Eric Bledsoe. Wall is the projected No. 1 pick in Thursday’s NBA Draft.

“They did it, so we can do it,” Wroten said of two point guards playing together  in the backcourt.

Wroten also mentioned Villanova, Washington, UConn and St. John’s, saying that new Johnnies coach Steve Lavin recently reached out to him.

“I talked to him like two weeks ago,” Wroten said of Lavin.

Wroten missed the U16 gold medal experience in Argentina a year ago, so he is especially hyped to win in Germany this time around.

The U17 team will train in San Antonio before heading to Lithuania for two tuneup games June 28-29. The U17 World Championships runs July 2-11 in Hamburg, Germany.

“I’m much more hungry,” he said.

As for when and how he’ll announce, Wroten has big plans.

“You never know, he said. “I could commit tomorrow. I could commit next year. You gotta stay tuned.”

Asked if he would follow Carolina commit Harrison Barnes and go the Skype rout, Wroten said he had other plans.

“I’m not doing that. I think that was pretty weak. I’m going to do something like that,” he said.

    “You just gotta stay tuned.”
