  • Wall Still Open to Options?

John Wall still hasn’t made his college choice and is open to options, according to Levi Beckwith, Wall’s coach at Word of God Academy in Raleigh, N.C.

“I spoke to John Wall a few minutes ago and at this point he’s still undecided and he’s going to be talking to some schools that have expressed interest in him,” Beckwith said during a radio interview with Bomani Jones. “His options are still open and we have done that by talking to some coaches that know that it’s not a done deal where he’s going, I’ll just say that.”

Baylor, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Kentucky, Memphis, Oregon, North Carolina State, Southern California and Texas have been on Wall’s list, but many observers assume he will end up at Baylor now that his summer ball coach, Dwon Clifton, has taken a job as the Director of Player Development under Baylor head coach Scott Drew.

“The list is the same as it has been,” said Brian Clifton, Dwon’s brother and one of Wall’s advisors.

Brian added recently that the 6-foot-4 Wall, the No. 1 player in the Class of 2009, could announce at any time.

“If he chooses so, then very possibly (this) week,” he said. “However, if he decides that it’ll be later, then that will be fine as well.”

Beckwith said he speaks regularly with Brian and Dwon Clifton, as well as Wall’s mother, and they have tried to impress upon Wall that he needs to make an independent decision that is best for himself.

“When he got a No. 1 ranking, the first thing I told John is …he’s going to have to grow up,” Beckwith said. “He’s going to have to start being a little more vocal about what he wants to do.

“The thing that I have tried to impress upon John is, ‘You go where you want to go. Whoever goes with you where you go, that’s on you. You go where you want to go and you don’t let people dictate where you’re going.'”
