Sutton_2 Maurice Sutton, a 6-10, 210-pound center-forward from Largo High (Upper Marlboro, Md.), will announce that he is heading to Villanova at a press conference later this afternoon, according to he Philly Daily News.

“Villanova is a great fit for me,” he had recently told Justin Young, of rivals.com. “They have all five guys coming back next year, but I really like Villanova. [Coach Jay] Wright, he really took me under his wing. I love [him]. I see myself in their offense and defense, too.”

Sutton chose Villanova over Indiana. IU coach Tom Crean offered Sutton a scholarship while still at Marquette.

Seton Hall was in the mix but pulled out after getting Melvyn “Big Mel” Oliver.

The Pirates have one ship remaining and are in the mix for Montclair’s Brandon Costner, who may transfer from N.C. State.

“I know academics are very important to Brandon [a rising redshirt junior] and his parents,” NC State coach Sidney Lowe told the Charlotte Observer in April. “I think they thought about him coming to school for three years and graduating.

“So that’s going to be always there. So that changes our thought process in terms of recruiting. We have to make sure we’ll have enough big guys to replace J. J. (Hickson) and Brandon and then Ben [McCauley] next year.”
