The 6-foot combo guard out of Queens, N.Y., has visited Oklahoma, Kansas and Kentucky and will now make UConn his fourth official.

He may also visit Arizona, but no date has been set.

The early signing period runs Nov. 11-18 and it remains unclear when Lamb will sign early or late.

His father, Calvin, previously said his son faced a tough choice among his leaders.

“I think it’s going to be a tough choice for him,” Calvin said.

“There are so many good systems and universities that are recruiting him. It’s going to be tough.”

UConn is also involved with Lamb’s teammate, 6-9 forward Roscoe Smith, who is considering UConn, Duke and Georgetown.

DUREN TO LA SALLE

Neumann-Goretti point guard Tyreek Duren committed to La Salle over Temple and UMass.

ESPN Insiders ranked the 6-foot, 180-pound Duren No. 25 among point guards in the Class of 2010.

“I like their coaching staff and I think that they have a good thing going there,” Duren, whose picture appears at left courtesy Harrisburg (Pa.) Patriot-News, said by text.

Duren averaged 12 points, 6.5 assists and four rebounds last season.

Duren said Explorers coach Dr. John Giannini wants him to “come in and be an impact player right away.”

Said Neumann-Goretti assistant John Mosco: “He is a solid point guard who loves to get everyone involved. He handles the ball great. He gets in the lane and makes great decisions.

“He figured he would get more playing time at La Salle and make a bigger impact.”

Duren is the third Neumann-Goretti senior to commit, following guard Tony Chennault to Wake Forest (last year) and forward Daniel Stewart to Rider (last month).

JOSEPH VISITS MINNY

Findlay (Nev.) Prep guard Cory Joseph visited Minnesota over the weekend and spent time with his older brother, Devoe, a sophomore guard, and the rest of the team.

Joseph told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that he went to a Timberwolves game Friday night with the college team and watched the Michigan State-Minnesota football game Saturday.

Joseph told the paper playing with his brother wouldn’t be the deciding factor, though.

“Everybody wants to play with their brother, but I still make a decision what’s 100 percent for me,” he told the Star-Tribune.

Joseph added: ”At the same time, I still gotta check out other schools. … [I'll] keep on looking into all the schools.”

Joseph has visited UConn, Villanova and Texas. Florida, UNLV and Mississippi State are also on his list.

He is unsure if he will sign in November or in the spring.

“We want to visit Oklahoma in early October,” Calvin said Wednesday morning by phone.

A senior from Queens, N.Y. who plays at Oak Hill (Va.) Academy, the 6-foot-4 Lamb is the No. 3 shooting guard and No. 21 prospect in the Class of 2010.

“From what I’ve heard him say, I think his top three would be Kansas, Oklahoma and the next one I couldn’t tell you. It was Kentucky. But they haven’t been in here to see him yet,” Oak Hill coach Steve Smith said Wednesday by phone.

He added: “I think Doron wants to sign early.”

Kentucky head coach John Calipari did have an in-home with Doron’s parents in Queens.

Kansas, Oklahoma, Arizona, UConn and St. John’s have been to Oak Hill to meet with Doron. UConn will also have a home visit in Queens with the parents on Monday.

Smith said that there are only three weekends in October available for Lamb and teammate Roscoe Smith to take visits — Oct. 3, 17th and 23rd. An SAT test is set for Oct. 10 and the Warriors have a game Oct. 31. [Check out the Oak Hill schedule, which also includes tilts Feb. 12 and 13 in Trenton against St. Patrick and St. Peter's Prep, respectively, in the PrimeTime Shootout.]

Calvin said Kansas, Kentucky and Arizona could also get visits, and that UConn or St. John’s might get a fifth.

“We’ll try and get them in as soon as possible,” he said. “I don’t want to space them out too far.”

As for the 6-7 Roscoe Smith, UCLA, Kansas, UConn, Florida and Duke have been in to see him.

POOLE TO ANNOUNCE FOR KENTUCKY

Stacey Poole, Jr., a 6-5 small forward out of Jacksonville (Fla. ) Providence School, is set to commit to Kentucky on Wednesday.

“He’s about to commit,” his father, Stacey Poole, Sr., told Jerry Tipton of the Kentucky Herald-Leader. “. . . Everything will be official by the of the day.”

Poole had narrowed his list to UK and South Carolina.

Poole told CatsPause.com that, “Kentucky is really strong right now, hard to beat.”

ST. ANTHONY’S PAIR TAKING VISITS

Over at St. Anthony in Jersey City, senior guard Elijah Carter and senior forward Derrick Williams are busy planning and taking visits.

La Salle head coach Dr. John Giannini will visit both players today (Wednesday) during an open gym.

Both players went to St. Bonaventure this past weekend and the 6-7 Williams visited Richmond the weekend before.

Williams has also visited St. Joe’s and Temple unofficially.

Fordham, George Mason and Penn State are also involved with Williams.

The 6-2 Carter will also have a home visit Sept. 30 with Robert Morris coach Mike Rice.

BU and Rider are also trying to get involved with Carter.

O’NEAL TO ROBERT MORRIS

Wilbur O’Neal, a 6-7, 240-pound forward from Harcum (Pa.) College, verbally committed to Robert Morris during his visit this past weekend. O’Neal is originally from Woodbridge, Va.

“I liked the atmosphere, the players. They bring a different type of game,” O’Neal said. “All of them play hard. They look at each other as a family. They said they’re going to do whatever it takes to help you.”

“It was his first visit [this past weekend], so he didn’t visit anywhere else,” Harcum coach Drew Kelly said.

“He’s a real rugged, wide body, post player, very strong, good rebounder. He’s a good all-around player. He can play offense, he can defend and he can rebound.”

While the Arizona coaches were in Mouth of Wilson, Va., St. John’s head coach Norm Roberts had an in-home with the family Wednesday night.

“It all went well. They’re hoping Doron stays home. It will be a good thing for him to stay in the city,” Calvin said.

And Oklahoma’s Jeff Capel was in Tuesday.

“It was good. It was nice. [He would be] just filling in being that missing piece that they need. That they’ll be a good situation for him,” Calvin said.

Calvin said no official visits have yet been planned.

“We’ve gotta sit down and talk to his coach, see if he’s free,” he said.

JOSEPH VISITING TEXAS

The 6-foot-4, 180-pound shooting guard out of Philly known as “The Takeover” is now playing for Kelvin Jefferson at South Kent (Conn.).

Morgan said Wednesday that Seton Hall, UConn and Florida were showing him the most love at this point.

“I’m just pretty much open right now. In the next couple of months I will schedule some official visits,” Morgan said. “I want to go where I can play.”

Georgia, Pitt, Temple, La Salle and UMass have also shown interest.

Morgan has been to UConn, Florida, La Salle and Temple unofficially.

Seton Hall assistant Dermon Player is recruiting Morgan and Morgan said he’d like to visit the Big East school.

“It’s in a nice city, nice atmosphere. I just want to get to know the players and the coaches. They are cool to be around,” he said.

Of UConn he said: “It’s the school, the history. I just want to get there.”

Morgan played at Olney High in Philly before transferring to South Kent this summer after playing for Jefferson at the Reebok All-American Camp.

“Jesse’s got a chance to be really good,” Jefferson said. “He’s got great presence on the floor. He can really shot the ball and he’s got good size at 6-4 or 6-5. He handles it so well and can be moved over to the point.

“He plays within himself. He’s got a good chance to be a real good player at a high level.”

MIKE BUFFALO UPDATE

Jefferson said former Wings guard Mike Buffalo was hearing from St. Peter’s, Detroit, Canisius and LIU.

“He’s got a chance. He’s a D-1 player,” Jefferson said.

PINKSTON HAS HOME VISITS

JayVaughn Pinkston, the 6-6 forward from Bishop Loughlin considered the top prospect in New York City, had home visits on Monday with St. John’s head coach Norm Roberts and Tennessee head coach Bruce Pearl.

Villanova head coach Jay Wright is slated to come in on Sept. 22 and Seton Hall is also scheduled to come in that week. Marquette will also be in “within the next few weeks,” according to Kimani Young of New Heights.

Pinkston visited all of those schools unofficially this past summer.

Miami and Arizona could also come in for home visits.

Pinkston has said he will wait until the spring signing period before signing.

Here are some snippets and highlights of what’s going on:

**First off, Frantz Massenat, a 2010 guard from Trenton Catholic, committed to Drexel on Wednesday. Jerian Grant, a 6-4 shooting guard from DeMatha (Md.), committed to Notre Dame.

**Kansas head coach Bill Self and his staff met with Baltimore (Md.) Lake Clifton point guard Josh Selby (pictured) and his mother, Maeshon Witherspoon, on Wednesday. Selby decommitted from Tennessee and probably won’t sign until the spring.

“The visit went well,” Witherspoon told TheShiver.com. “Coach Self, Coach Dooley and Coach Townsend were there. They told us about the school and the program.

“They (KU) have a real history. Great coaches like Larry Brown, Roy Williams and something I didn’t know, Wilt Chamberlain went there. I thought that was something there,” added Witherspoon.

**Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski came to New Jersey to meet with Elizabeth (NJ) St. Patrick point guard Kyrie Irving.

“It went well,” said Dred Irving, Kyrie’s dad.

Kyrie will trip to Duke officially Sept. 25 and to Indiana Oct. 2.

**Memphis head coach Josh Pastner met Wednesday night with Memphis White Station point guard Joe Jackson at Jackson’s home.

Memphis has long targeted Jackson to join Will Barton in the backcourt in2010, but Eric Robinson, Jackson’s AAU guy, said, “No commitment yet.

Tennessee comes to meet with Jackson Thursday and Kansas Friday.

**Kentucky coach John Calipari went to Long Island to meet with Dix Hills (NY) Half Hollow Hills West forward Tobias Harris and his family. Harris is considering 11 schools and is looking for a place that will emphasize the point forward position.

“The home visit was great,” Torrel Harris said by text. “We are very impressed with Kentucky, Coach Cal and his coaching staff.

**Calipari will meet with the family of Oak Hill (Va.) combo guard Doron Lamb tonight (Thursday). Oklahoma head coach Jeff Capel visits with Calvin Lamb on Tuesday. Arizona assistant Book Richardson was the only coach at Oak Hill on Wednesday to visit with Lamb himself.

**Indiana head coach Tom Crean tripped to Mountain State in Beckley, West Va. on Wednesday night and checked out 6-10 Turkish forward Enes Kanter, who just recently left Findlay (Nev.) Prep, and 7-foot, 200-pound center Obij Aget.

“It went great. He really likes both of those kids. He was happy with the talent,” Mountain State coach Rodney Crawford said.

New Mexico State was also in the house at Mountain State.

**Pittsburgh is having a home visit tonight (Thursday) at the home of South Kent (Conn.) forward J.J. Moore. Moore will be at school so coaches will meet with his mother, Panthers coach Gary Charles and mentor Hunt Bresky. Providence comes Friday, Marquette and Louisville on Saturday and Florida on Sunday.

**Providence coach Keno Davis will hit St. Anthony on Friday to check out 6-8 senior Devon Collier, who has already tripped unofficially to the Big East school.

**6-7 forward Derrick Williams of St. Anthony will visit Richmond on Friday after the school visited his home Wednesday. He has a home visit today with St. Bonaventure.

Williams will visit the Bonnies on Sept. 18 and potentially Penn State Nov. 7.

**Seton Hall Prep junior guard Sterling Gibbs said via text that he plans on going to Maryland Saturday for a tour and the football game.

“And I’ll probably go to Notre Dame Oct. 19 for the Notre Dame vs. USC game and a tour,” he said.

**Neumann-Goretti guard Tyreek Duren will take an official to Temple this weekend and will also visit La Salle (9/18) and UMass (9/26).

Sterling Gibbs of Seton Hall Prep, Deshaun Wiggins of Wings Academy, Winston Graham of Lee Academy and Ryan Rhoomes of Cardozo all played well for the Panthers.

Wiggins had a team-high 20 points in the final, Graham scored 18, Gibbs tallied 15 points and Armani Cotton added 12. Rhoomes added 10 points.

The Panthers played without Rod Odom (who was in Springfield) and J.J. Moore (back injury).

“It just means were still consistent,” Panthers head Gary Charles said. “Skip [Alston] came in and did a nice job with these kids and he’s been practicing for three weeks. We’re extremely happy to be able to win the Reebok Summer Championship.”

In the semifinals, Gibbs had 16 and Wiggins 15 as the Panthers downed Kyrie Irving and the New Jersey Roadrunners. Irving and Paterson Catholic’s Jermaine Peart scored 16 apiece.

Coaches from Duke, Indiana, Texas A&M, Seton Hall, Rutgers, West Virginia, Fordham, La Salle, George Washington, Siena, Rider and Quinnipiac all watched the Gibbs-Irving battle.

“Lost in the semifinals to ny panthers,” Irving tweeted. “Overall good tournament…a new road I’m taking and alot more steps to climb to reach my potential.”

Anybody doubt this guy’s commitment to improving? He later tweeted that he will work out on Monday at St. Patrick.

ISIAH LANDS POINT GUARD

Florida International coach Isiah Thomas has received yet another commitment, this one from point guard Phil Taylor, a 5-9, 160-pound a Brooklyn native playing at Marietta (GA) Wheeler.

“It’s a really, really good get for him [Isiah],” Dave Telep, national recruiting director of Scout, told Jeff Goodman. “He’s a small guy with quickness and toughness who has one of those personalities where he can attract other kids.”

Thomas got a comittment last week from 6-foot-10 Chris Coleman, who chose FIU over high-majors like UConn and Syracuse.

“It’s my dream to play with someone in the Hall of Fame,” Taylor told Goodman. “He does what I do and as a kid, he’s one of the guys I patterned my game after.”

Taylor averaged 21 points and 7 assists last season while leading Wheeler to a state title. He said he was also recruited by Miami, Oregon, Xavier, Arizona and Richmond.

RECRUITING NOTES

**Gibbs, a rising junior whose older brother Ashton Gibbs is a rising sophomore at Pittsburgh, previously told me Villanova was his favorite school.

Still, he said he plans to visit Oklahoma, Pitt, Villanova, Indiana and DePaul this summer. Indiana, Rutgers, Seton Hall and Georgia Tech are also involved.

“I’m wide open with my recruitment,” he said last week. “I hope to take some visits in August and see where it goes from there.”

**The 6-8 Rhoomes has drawn interest from George Washington, Temple, Rhode Island, George Mason, Virginia Commonwealth and La Salle.

**Seton Hall and Rutgers both watched Plainfield guard Tyrone Johnson of New Jersey Elite, according to Alex Schwartz. Johnson has a lot of interest but Georgetown is thought to be the leader.

**Seton Hall assistant Scott Adubato was on hand to watch Irving and the Pirates are the only team to watch him at every one of his games so far during the July period. Head coach Bobby Gonzalez and assistants Adubato and Derm Player watched Irving in Cleveland and Adubato or Kevin Murphy has been on hand the last few days at Reebok.

**SHU’s Player is at the Peach Jam checking out a slew of talented players: Michael Gilchrist, Doron Lamb, Rakeem Christmas, Tony Wroten, Shane Southwell, Kyle Anderson, Myles Mack, Derrick Randall, Desmond Hubert, Vaughn Gray and Seton Hall commit Fuquan Edwin.

**The 6-5 Edwin had 14 points and 6 rebounds in a 60-7 Playaz win over the Oakland Soldiers.

**The 5-8 Mack, also out of Paterson (N.J.) Catholic dropped 25 points in a loss to Mack Irvin from Chicago in the 16U bracket.

**Many coaches from the Peach Jam are raving about Gilchrist, and Kentucky’s John Calipari and Rod Strickland were also reportedly following him.

**Alex Schwartz reports that St. Anthony guard Elijah Carter told him Richmond was his top choice.

**Dave Telep tweets that Harrison Barnes, the top prospect in the Class of 2010, “needs stitches on his non shooting hand. Could b on da shelf.”

**Jeff Goodman reports on his blog that Marquis Teague, younger brother of Jeff Teague, nearly committed to Louisville a few months ago.

“I was ready, but my dad told me to slow it down,” Teague told Goodman.

Teague’s father, Shawn, played for Louisville coach Rick Pitino when Pitino was at BU.

Took the kids to the playground this morning, had Vietnamese lunch with the family and then braved the Jersey Shore traffic down to the Hoop Group Summer Classic. Here’s a quick notebook:

COACHES SWARM TO SEE IRVING

Think Kyrie Irving is in high demand?

Coaches from about a dozen high-majors watched the 6-foot-1 senior combo guard from Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick drop 24 points as the New Jersey Roadrunners pulled out a one-point win over Philly Pride.

Newly minted Virginia Tech commit Tyrone Garland had 21 in the loss.

Irving had this to say via his Twitter feed, which now has more than 1,000 followers: “Decent games today…can’t make any excuses just gotta learn and grow from all these experiences…it’s life.”

Kentucky had two coaches on hand, Orlando Antigua and former Knicks point guard Rod Strickland. Strickland recently told me he’s excited to work with John Wall and Eric Bledsoe next year. Could Irving be the next great Calipari point guard in the line?

Also on hand were Paul Hewitt of Georgia Tech; Roshown McLeod of Indiana; Steve Wojciechowski of Duke; Kevin Murphy of Seton Hall; Doug West of Villanova; Darren Savino of Rutgers; and coaches from Texas A&M and Virginia.

Irving has a list of a dozen or so schools, but my bet is this thing comes down to Kentucky, Indiana and Texas A&M, with Duke, Virginia, Notre Dame and Seton Hall hanging around.

Memphis coach Josh Pastner was also in the house checking in on Antonio Barton, who has committed for 2010. I interviewed Josh at the Reebok Camp and will have more on him later.

DAJUAN COLEMAN A MOUNTAIN MASQUERADING AS A MAN

I got my first look today at DaJuan Coleman and my man is big. Real big.

He’s 6-8, 280 and he told me his doctor told him he would grow four more inches. If my math is right, that’ll put him at 7 feet.

Ranked No. 1 by some services in the Class of 2012, Coleman attends Jamesville-DeWitt outside Syracuse, the same high school that produced Brandon Triche, who is headed to play for Jim Boehim.

Coleman is a mobile, athletic big man who had coaches from St. John’s, Notre Dame, Rutgers and Virginia Tech checking him out today.

Asked for an early list, Coleman said: Syracuse, UConn, Ohio State, Florida, Kansas, Kentucky and “a couple more.”

Any favorites?

“Probably Syracuse,” he said.

Is Brandon recruiting you much?

“He isn’t trying to get me to go there, but it would be nice to reunite with him, though,” he added.

Sounds like the Orange have the inside track, don’t ya think?

LA SALLE LANDS SLEEPER GUARD

La Salle coach Dr. John Giannini, one of the most thoughtful and honorable men in the business, has landed a sleeper senior guard in Tristan “T.T.” Carey of Colonial Beach (Va.) High. Carey has given a verbal commitment and will enroll this fall.

“The [LaSalle] campus was sweet,” Carey told his hometown Fredericksburg.com. “In a city, you wouldn’t expect to see a campus that had grass on it, but that campus had grass on it, so that was pretty nice.”

Carey led Colonial Beach to the Group A, Division 1 state championship this past season. He scored 884 points, the third-highest single season total in Virginia High School League history.

He averaged 29. points last season and 9.6 rebounds and was the Virginia Class 1 Player of the Year. He is third all-time on the Virginia scoring list with 2,481 points behind a couple of guys you may have heard of: Moses Malone and Allen Iverson.

“T.T. will definitely be a very successful person and player at the next level,” Colonial Beach head coach Steve Swope told Fredericksburg.com. “All of us from our town wish him nothing but the best. He’s carrying the torch for us.”

Speaking of Giannini and La Salle, here’s a neat stat: four of his former players at Maine and Rowan are coaching at the Reebok event: Julian Dunkley, Tory Cavalieri and Jaycee Johnson, who played for him at Maine, and Terrence Stewart of Rowan.

FDU LANDS POINT GUARD

New Fairleigh Dickinson head coach Greg Vetrone has landed a 6-foot JUCO point guard in Mike Scott of the College of Eastern Utah.

With last year’s point guard, Cameron Tylor, academically ineligible, Scott could come in and start.

“Mike will bring stability,” Vetrone (pictured) said. “He’s a winner, a lot of experience. Every place he’s been he’s averaged three assists to one turnover. He’s a consummate point guard.

“And some times last year, when you only win seven games, you have a lot of problems. But most teams that win, you need a great point guard, someone that can take control of the game. That’s what Mike brings to the table for us.”

FDU also signed 5-11 DeShawn Dockery of Chicago, a combo guard who is the cousin of former Duke player Sean Dockery.

“He is good, a left-hander,” Vetrone said. “I’m excited about the guys coming back.”

FDU also returns the rest of the roster, including 6-10 shot blocker DeJuan Pursley, who returns after sitting out due to academic problems. Vetrone said he has a chance to start.

“My expectations are just to get the kids to play harder,” Vetrone said. “We were last in team defense last year. That’s an area that we’re going to improve on. That is a personal expectation for me as a coach, to make sure that we play much better defense and play much more competitive.”

WINCHENDON ROSTER

Funny moment I shared with Alex Schwartz of Northstar Basketball and Winchendon coach Mike Byrnes. Byrnes joked that about seven kids had listed Winchendon as their school on the Reebok rosters, but not all of them have been admitted to the school.

Here is his current roster, which includes transplants from New York schools Cardinal Hayes, Rice and Lincoln. Villanova-bound big man Markus Kennedy also told me he may end up at Winchendon, but his paperwork isn’t set yet.

Angel Nunez, Cardinal Hayes, 2011

Akeem Williams, Winchendon, 2010

Devon Saddler, Aberdeen, 2010

Michael Accoui, St. Andrews, RI, 2010,

Michael Holton Jr, Oregon, 2010

James Stukes, Rice, 2010

AJ West, Lincoln, Postgrad

Khem Birch, Canada, 2012

Eric Ferguson, Statesboro (Ga.), 2010

Marvin Dominque, Miramar, 2010

Anthony Ireland, Crosby (CT), 2010

Joey Bazzuto, Sacred Heart (CT), Postgrad

Adam Kemp, NY, 2010

PATERSON REPRESENTS

Congrats to the Paterson boys and girls basketball teams for winning gold medals at the Youth Games in Cocoa Beach, Fla.

“Rising ninth-graders Kavon Stewart of Paterson and Reggie Cameron of Hackensack were awesome,” Paterson Catholic coach Damon Wright wrote in a text.

PHILLY – Drove down here this morning and I’ve already eaten a Philly cheese steak at the Pour House with Dana O’Neill of ESPN.com and Brendan Quinn of Basketball Times. Quinn did the driving and did a spectacular job parallel parking in front of the restaurant, a la George Costanza in the hospital episode of “Seinfeld.”

Here are some quick notes.

***UPDATE***

**Chris Coleman, a 6-9 junior center from Durham (NC) Mt. Zion (pictured), has committed to Florida International and head coach Isiah Thomas, despite my previous post to the contrary.

“I liked that [Thomas] played in the NBA, coached in the NBA and he’s got a lot of experience and stuff,” Coleman told the NBE Basketball Report. “That is where I am trying to get, so that is why I committed.”

Coleman reportedly picked FIU over UConn, West Virginia, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, Texas, N.C. State and Wake Forest.

Coleman’s AAU coach, Don Marsh, previously told me had not committed.

**Paterson (N.J.) Catholic guard Jayon James is reclassifying to the Class of 2011 and is transferring to prep school, although it is unclear which one.

“He’s definitely transferring,” said John James, Jayon’s dad. “We’re trying to get his body right and trying to get him prepared for college.”

The 6-foot-5 James is being recruited by various Ivy League schools, including Harvard, Brown and Princeton.

“It’s still wide open, though,” John James said.

**Speaking of Paterson Catholic, 6-7 rising sophomore point guard Kyle Anderson is hearing from Pitt, Georgetown, Rutgers, St. John’s, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, La Salle, Texas, Kansas, Baylor, Miami and Kentucky. Georgetown is the only school Anderson has visited unofficially. Stay tuned for more on him later.

“His basketball IQ is so high that he can really play any position on the court,” Kyle Anderson Sr. said.

**Still more Paterson Catholic. Rising junior point Myles Mack, who’s on Anderson’s team here, says DePaul, Virginia Tech, St. John’s, Virginia and VCU have entered the picture, joining schools like Georgetown, Fordham, La Salle and Drexel.

How good can PC be next year? “We’re trying to win the TOCs this year,” Mack said.

**Also stay tuned for an SNY.tv story Friday on J.J. Moore, a 6-5, 190-pound wing from Brentwood, N.Y. Moore plans to transfer from Brentwood High (which produced Seton Hall big man John Garcia) to South Kent (Conn.), where he will play alongside New York products Mike Buffalo (Wings) and Russ Smith (Archbishop Molloy). Joel “Air Jamaica” Wright (Thomas Jefferson) may also end up at South Kent, although he said he’s also considering Hargrave (Va.) Military and Winchendon (Mass.).

It seemed like every Big East coach I spoke to was there scouting Moore, who dropped a game-high 18 in a win over Joe Jackson and Allen Iverson. Moore said he plans to visit Providence, Rutgers, Louisville and Marquette and also said Syracuse has always been a favorite.

**DePaul assistant Billy Garrett is quickly making inroads in the Northeast. Moore, Mack and Anderson all mentioned him.

**Seton Hall Prep guard Sterling Gibbs is fresh off winning the gold medal with the U.S. U16 National Team in Argentina.

“It was great,” he said. “I got to visit another country and got to play with another team. I think it’s the best team I ever played with.”

Gibbs, a rising junior whose older brother Ashton Gibbs is a rising sophomore at Pittsburgh, previously told me Villanova was his favorite school.

Still, he said he plans to visit Oklahoma, Pitt, Villanova, Indiana and DePaul this summer.

“I’m wide open with my recruitment,” he said. “I hope to take some visits in August and see where it goes from there.”

**Kelvin Jefferson, who coached Omari Lawrence (St. John’s) and Kevin Parrom (Arizona) at South Kent, had thoughts on both.

“With Omari, he’s a tough, rugged kind of player. His year at South Kent he’s developed his body physically. He’s bigger, he’s stronger and he’s going to be able to take the pounding of the Big East schedule. He’s a physical slasher, but now he’s going to be able to take the pounding and finish around the rim and it’s not going to effect him so much.

“With Kevin and the Pac-10, he’s long, he can run, he can jump, he’s athletic. The nice thing about him is his diversity. He can do a lot of different things. He can handle the ball like a point forward. He can get to the rim. He’ll rebound for you. He’ll make 3’s. He does a lot of good things that will enable guys to want him to play at a lot of different positions and give him a chance to stay on the court a long time.”

**Pe’Shon Howard, a 6-3, 195-pound wing from Oak Hill (Va.) Academy, listed Harvard, Arkansas, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, Stanford and USC.

“I’ve got a lot of offers from a lot of schools,” Howard said.

He said Rutgers assistant Craig Carter has been recruiting him for the Knights.

“He’s a cool guy,” Howard said.

**Sidiki Johnson, a 6-8 junior from St. Raymond’s in the Bronx, listed Arizona, Kentucky, Providence, St. John’s, Marquette, West Virginia, Rutgers, Virginia Tech and Seton Hall.

He said he’s visited Arizona and Kentucky unofficially.

“[Arizona] was great, nice campus,” he said. ” I went to Kentucky a month ago. It was fun, lots of talented players. It was nice out there.”

“As of right now he loves [Arizona],” Bernard Bowen, Johnson’s mentor, told me recently. “He loves the coaching staff. As of right now, Arizona is the top on his list.”

Johnson averaged 11 points and 10 rebounds last season at St. Ray’s, which reached the title game of the SNY Invitational before falling to Sherrod Wright and Mount Vernon.

“I just create a mismatch wherever I’m at,” he said. “I play inside/outside, but I’ll probably be a three in college.

Johnson has modest goals for this year.

“Be Mr. Basketball in the State [of New York],” he said. “That’s my goal.”

**Head coaches on hand so far: La Salle’s Dr. John Giannini; UConn’s Jim Calhoun; St. John’s Norm Roberts; Providence’s Keno Davis; Kentucky’s John Calipari; Memphis’ Josh Pastner; Oklahoma State’s Travis Ford; Indiana’s Tom Crean; Villanova’s Jay Wright; Marquette’s Buzz Williams; Virginia Tech’s Seth Greenburg; St. Joe’s Phil Martelli; FDU’s Greg Vetrone; Alabama’s Anthony Grant; BC’s Al Skinner and Temple’s Fran Dunphy.

GARLAND TO VIRGINIA TECH

Tyrone Garland, a 6-1, 165-pound point guard from Philadelphia (PA) John Bartram, announced his college choice at the Reebok Camp in a room full of family, coaches and friends.

“The school that I will be attending is Virginia Tech,” Garland said.

“The [other] schools I was considering were La Salle, Temple, Nevada and Nebraska but what sold me was a great coaching staff. It’s kind of quiet up there so you can focus on basketball. [It has a] good campus and new practice facility, too.”

Bartram coach James Brown said Garland was a “special” person.

“I say from day one that young man is special,” Brown said. “Not only do you have a great basketball player but you have a great individual sitting right there.

“You don’t get the total package that often. He’s the total package person, personality, character. Teachers around the school say the same thing about him.

“He’s special, they love him.”

His decision behind him, Garland said he can now focus on school and basketball.

“Now I can just focus on ball and working out and focus on the rest of the AAU season and my grades,” he said.
