“He has not made a decision yet,” said Chattanooga (Tenn.) Tyner Academy coach Gerald Harris.

The 6-foot-10 Bradley is considering UConn, Drake and Georgia, Harris said.

“I think the date was yesterday and he decided to extend it,” Harris said.

Bradley has only been playing ball for four years and averaged 8 points last season.

“A lot of people see his upside more than anything else,” Harris said. “What people see in him is what kind of what player he’s going to be. He’s a coachable kid, a real hard worker. He’s only been play basketball for about four years.”

MORGAN TO VISIT UCONN

Jesse “The Takeover” Morgan will visit UConn for First Night festivities Oct. 16, according to his Godfather, Fred Snead.

Morgan had initially said he would visit Louisville that weekend.

He is tentatively set to visit Seton Hall this coming weekend.

The 6-5, 180-pound Morgan is a Philly native playing at South Kent (Conn.). He said he’s considering Seton Hall, UConn, Rutgers, Louisville and UMass.

Rosario had 13 after one quarter, 28 at the half, 37 after three quarters and scored 17 fourth-quarter points to carry his team back after France had taken an 83-76 lead with 3:20 remaining in the game.

“I knew today was do or die for us,” said Rosario, whose team plays the U.S. on Tuesday. “That was a team we played in France and they beat us by one at the Douai Tournament, and I just knew that this game meant so much to me, my country and my teammates.

“I just told coach that I was going to go out and give it everything I had, and I went out there and I prayed last night, and I prayed before the game and everything went right for me today. I am just so happy.”

Trailing by 11 at the half, the French made their move late in the third quarter, finishing the quarter on a 14-2 run to tie the scores at 63-63.

The last quarter was a classic, with France hitting five three pointers to establish their 7 point lead. But Rosario came back to life to hit three baskets, including a two pointer to tie the score at 89-89 with 40 seconds to play.

Andrew Albicy (28 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steal) was outstanding for France all night, but missed an open three point shot to win the game with three seconds to play. Raymond Cintron grabbed the rebound and rushed down the court, finding Kevin Young under the basket, who was fouled with 0.6 seconds remaining.

Young missed the first but made the second and, fittingly, Rosario stole the inbounds pass to secure an incredible win for his country.

Puerto Rico’s three wins may be enough to qualify them for the quarter finals, but a win in their remaining games against the USA and Egypt will make it a certainty.

With two wins on the board, France must win at least one of their games against Lithuania and Greece to move on to the knockout round.

USA DOWNS GREECE

Georgia forward Howard Thompkins scored 22 points on 10 of 14 shooting to lead the USA over Greece 85-69.

“I decided today that I was going to be very, very aggressive” Thompkins said. “I heard that Greece like to bump and bang, I decided I was going to be the guy to initiate it first.

“Greece, they move the ball well, they play as a team. It seems like they use ball screens a lot, and they know how to penetrate and dish and they know how to create. They’re a good team and it wouldn’t surprise me if we saw them again.”

Gordon Howard had 9 points and 5 rebounds and John Shurna, Tyshawn Taylor, Seth Curry and Ashton Gibbs scored 8 points apiece.

“I made my mind up and my decision is ….,” the 6-foot-9 Favors, an Atlanta native, said before putting on a black and gold Georgia Tech hat.

“I want my friends and family to come see me play, for however long I’ll be in college,” he added. “I thought about it long and hard, I made the right decision.”

Georgia Tech coach Paul Hewitt attended Favors’ game Tuesday night, when he dropped 30 points in a blowout, but Favors did not speak to him.

“I just wanted to mess with his head a little bit, make him think I wasn’t interested in him,” Favors said. “But I think deep down he probably knew I would come.”

Favors picked Georgia Tech over Georgia and N.C. State.

“All the schools were good choices for me but I thought about it long and hard and I think I made the right decision,” Favors said.

He joins an impressive recruiting class that includes point guard Mfon Udofia, power forward Kammeon Holsey, shooting guard Glen Rice Jr. and small forward Brian Oliver, who plays for the Paterson-NJ-based Playaz Basketball Club.

Paul Biancardi of ESPNU says Favors, the No. 2 player in the ESPNU 100, is a tremendous two-way player.

“Favors has the ability to dominate a game and make it look easy,” he said. “He’s a dominating player in the post. He’s aggressive in the low post. He catches the ball deep in the low post and demands double-teams. Surprisingly, he’s an excellent passer out of the low post. He’s added a solid 15-foot jumper to his offensive game but clearly his strength lies in and around the basket. Defensively, he challenges, changes and blocks shots. He cleans up the defensive glass. He reminds me of a young Alonzo Mourning, Amare-Stoudemire type player.”

“I just feel a relief about it,” Favors told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I’m happy to get it over with so I don’t have nothing else to think about.”

“I’m pretty sure his mind’s made up. That’s why he’s ready to announce it now,” Hulio Smith, Favors’ AAU coach, said by text.

The 6-foot-9, 220-pound Favors recently cut his list to Georgia Tech, Georgia and N.C. State.

He recently told Alex Schwartz of the Northstar Basketball Blog that “Being able to play in front of my friends and family” was a major factor in his decision.

Our guess is Georgia Tech, but we’ll have to wait and see. Paul Hewitt was in attendance Tuesday night when Favors scored 30 points in South Atlanta’s blowout victory.

On Thursday night, Favors and South Atlanta will play against Mobile (Ala.) LeFlore, whose team features top power forward DeMarcus Cousins. Tip-off is set for 9 p.m. on ESPN2.

Pittsburgh is the No. 1 college team in the land.

Could the two be destined for a match?

Pitt associate head coach Tom Herrion watched Stephenson drop 37 points last week on Brooklyn Boys & Girls in a loss and a source close to the situation says Stephenson has “interest” in the Panthers.

Pitt has numerous ties to the metropolitan area, including current senior guard Levance Fields of Brooklyn. The Panthers have done well recruiting New York and New Jersey and just landed a verbal commitment from Isaiah Epps, a junior point guard from Plainfield (NJ) High.

Stephenson has mentioned St. John’s, Kansas, Memphis and USC among his suitors but it’s not hard to imagine him ending up at Pitt.

The Big East campus is only about five hours from New York, close enough for his family and friends to watch, but not as far as Kansas or Memphis. Additionally, the Panthers play numerous games in the area at St. John’s, Rutgers, Seton Hall and Villanova, as well as the Big East tournament in March.

“Right now, I’m just worrying about basketball and at the end I’ll do all that college stuff,” Stephenson said previously. “I’m going to do my high school season and after that I look forward to telling everybody what school I should go to.”

**[Check out the SNY video interview with Tom Konchalski where he discusses Lance Stephenson's recruitment.]

**Stephenson and Lincoln have a couple of very high-profile games coming up in the coming weeks:

Jan. 17 — vs. Jamestown-Dewitt, Big Apple Invitational, Baruch College

I’m told the following coaches / schools were on hand to watch the action: Bob Huggins and Billy Hahn of West Virginia, Fred Hill and Jim Carr of Rutgers, David Cox of Georgetown, Scott Adubato and Dermon Player of Seton Hall, Jared Grasso of Fordham, Mike Rice and Andy Toole of Robert Morris, Steve Sauers of Iona, Horace Owens from La Salle, Geoff Arnold from St. Joe’s, and assistants from Rider and NYU….

***Behind 24 points from junior guard Isaiah Epps, Plainfield beat Paterson Catholic, 73-61, marking the second year in a row Plainfield has downed the Cougars.

Epps, Anthony Baskerville (21 points) and Tyrone Johnson (16 points) combined for 61 of Plainfield’s points. Epps scored 13 in the fourth period.

“Their guards are seasoned guards and they’re good,” PC coach Damon Wright said of the Plainfield guards, who committed 2 turnovers compared with 15 for the PC guards.

Sophomore point guard Myles Mack scored 15 on 6 of 9 shooting to lead PC, Fordham-bound wing Lance Brown added 12 points and nine rebounds and Trevor Clemmings had 10. Fuquan Edwin came off the bench to score 8 points on 3 of 7 shooting.

This game featured four players who were offered by Seton Hall a year ago: Epps (pictured courtesy NJHoops.com) and the PC trio of Clemmings, Edwin and Jayon James.

Epps is also being courted by Maryland and Pitt, while Edwin and James have interest from A-10 schools like Xavier.

In the last three years at this tournament, PC has lost to Linden, St. Raymond’s of the Bronx and Plainfield, all teams with tremendous guard play.

PC leaves Friday for the Beach Ball Classic in South Carolina and plays the home team (Socastee, SC) Friday. They could play St. Patrick of Elizabeth in the second round Saturday in a possible preview of the Non-Public B playoffs.

***St. Anthony pulled out a narrow 37-36 victory over Trenton Catholic despite trailing 23-16 at the half. Villanova-bound wing Dominic Cheek finished with 14 points on 3-for-13 shooting and 7-for-8 from the line and 10 rebounds and was named MVP. Friars coach Bob Hurley was T’d up at halftime for yelling at the officials. Dondre Whitmore paced TC with 15 points.

The Friars — the defending New Jersey Tournament of Champions winners — are lacking for a true point guard and must wait 30 days to get all their transfers eligible: Derrick Williams, Ashton Pankey and Devon Collier.

So you figure we won’t really know what the true St. Anthony team is like until Feburary or so.

Still, it’s St. Patrick’s Tournament of Champions to lose. You heard it here. The Celtics are at the City of Palms, preparing for Monday night’s semifinal against Winter Park (Fla.). They will then appear Tuesday on ESPNU in either the first- or third-place game.

***Neptune rolled over Mendham 76-55 in the first game after it was tied at 32 at the half. Neptune outscored Mendham 27-9 in the third quarter. Dwayne Gutridge and Jabari Joyner scored 17 apiece for Neptune. Joyner hit four 3-pointers.

Columbia University commit Mark Cisco had 17 and 11 for Mendham.

***Seton Hall Prep beat Columbia 66-51 behind 22 points from sophomore point guard Sterling Gibbs. 6-8 senior Tony Peters had 11 points and 10 rebounds for Seton Hall Prep.

***The DePaul-Eastside game was cancelled, which is too bad because it would have given the two Passaic County powers a gauge on where they stand entering the season. Let’s face it, it’s Paterson Catholic’s county tournament to lose.

But DePaul with St. Joe’s-bound Justin Crosgile and Eastside with Robert Morris commit Karon Abraham both could reach the final if things fall their way.

ST. BENEDICT’S REACHES SEMIS AT KREUL CLASSIC

St. Benedict’s Prep is in the semifinals of the Kreul Classic in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Here’s a writeup from our friend Ron Jandoli of St. Benedict’s. The Gray Bees are No. 3 in the USA Today Super 25.

St. Ben’s crushed St. Thomas Aquinas of Florida, 84-59, in the quarters on Saturday after beating Florida’s Cardinal Gibbons 82-52 on Friday.

Rice-bound shooting guard Tamir Jackson scored 18 of his 25 against ST. Thomas Aquinas in the opening quarter, hitting four 3-pointers.

Texas commit Tristan Thompson added 23 points and 8 rebounds, Steve Frankoski scored 12 points and Mike Poole added nine rebounds.

The Gray Bees will play Miramar (Fla.) High at 4 p.m. on Monday in the semis, with the winner to advance to Tuesday’s championship at 9 p.m. Both games can be viewed at: http://kreul.ezstream.com/index.cfm

Favors told Schwartz he has eliminated Florida State from his list and is down to Georgia, Georgia Tech, Memphis and N.C. State.

The 6-foot-9 Favors did not sign in the early signing period and will now wait to sign in the spring. He has taken officials to N.C. State and the two Georgia schools, but his recent visit to Memphis was cancelled because his mother was ill.

He told Schwartz that he won’t necessarily pick one of the in-state schools.

“I think [people have] . . . assumed that,” he said. “[It depends how] comfortable I feel about the school, and how comfortable I feel with the coaches and players.”

Favors is part of a group of talented seniors who have yet to commit. That group includes John Wall, Lance Stephenson, Dominic Cheek, Latavious Williams and REnardo Sidney.

“I just wanted to wait [and] . . . weigh my options, so I could make sure I made the right decision,” Favors said. “I don’t know why [the others are waiting]. . . . They probably [are] just waiting so they can weigh their options too. I don’t know why.”

The NCAA early signing period begins Wednesday.

The 6-foot-9, 220-pound Favors, the No. 3 prospect in the Class of 2009 according to Rivals, is down to Georgia, Georgia Tech and N.C. State.

Hulio Smith, one of Favors’ AAU coaches with the Atlanta Celtics, sent me a text message Monday night saying that Favors would “probably [sign] in the late period.”

“It’s whenever he feels that he’s ready,” Smith added. “It may be the spring. It may be next week. It’s not a big deal to us so none of us are pressuring him one way or the other.”

Earlier, Smith had said Favors could commit “any day now.”

South Atlanta coach Michael Reddick seconded Smith’s appraisal.

“He’s not going to sign Wednesday, so it’s probably going to be a little bit later,” Reddick said by phone. “He could change his mind anytime.”

Meantime, Latavious Williams, a 6-8, 205-pound three man from Humble (Texas) Christian Life Center, also says he will wait.

“All signs point him toward him focusing on his academics and trying to do something in the late period,” Humble coach Carlos Wilson said by phone.

Williams, the No. 15 prospect in the Class of 2009, is considering Baylor, Florida State, Kansas State and Memphis.

Already, numerous top 25 prospects have said they will wait until the spring, including No. 1 John Wall, No. 3 Xavier Henry, No. 9 Lance Stephenson, No. 16 Dominic Cheek and No. 31 Keith “Tiny” Gallon.

“I guess that’s the trend right now,” Wilson said.

Williams said he wants to go to college, but would consider Europe a la Brandon Jennings depending on what happens.

“I prefer to go to college, but if that don’t work out I will take that route,” Williams said.

“Looks like he may go in the early period now,” Smith wrote in a text message Tuesday morning. “Hopefully any day now. Everyone will find out at the same time as he will do it live on ESPNU.”

The 6-foot-9, 270-pound Favors out of South Atlanta High is the No. 1 center in the Class of 2009. He will choose from among Georgia, Georgia Tech and N.C. State, Smith said.

Memphis and Florida State are apparently no longer in the mix. Favors had planned to visit Memphis but that visit did not take place.

In-state schools Georgia and Georgia Tech have long been the favorites to obtain Favors, but he and John Wall, the top recruit in the Class of ‘09, both recently visited N.C. State.

Favors initially said he may wait to commit until during the season, but his coach wants him to choose a school by the early signing period this month.

“It just depends on how comfortable he feels after….the visits,” South Atlanta coach Michael Reddick said. “I would prefer he would get it done by the signing date in November. That’s what’s preferable.

“It would take away a little more of the distraction and speculation. He would have that over with.”

Michael Reddick, Favors’ coach at South Atlanta High, told me yesterday that it was uncertain if the 6-foot-9, 220-pound Favors would make the trip.

“I’m not sure [if Favors will visit Memphis this weekend],” Reddick said Friday morning. “He might not be able to go. I’m not sure yet whether it’s going to be this week or the following or the week after.”

Favors, the No. 1 center in the Class of 2009, could possibly visit Memphis in two weeks.

Favors will choose from among Georgia, Georgia Tech, Memphis, N.C. State and Florida State. He and John Wall, the top recruit in the Class of ‘09, both visited N.C. State last weekend.

Favors is on record saying he may wait to commit until during the season, but his coach wants him to choose a school by the early signing period next month.

“It just depends on how comfortable he feels after he takes these visits,” Reddick said. “I would prefer he would get it done by the signing date in November. That’s what’s preferable.

“It would take a way a little more of the distraction and speculation. He would have that over with.”
