Johnson, out of Fayetteville (GA) Fayette County, chose Clemson over LSU, UNLV and Florida International.

“When they sat me down on my visit, they showed me how much I can do for them,” Johnson told ESPN.com. “I know I can help them at the two, three and even the one.”

Clemson lost senior guard K.C. Rivers and sophomore guard Terrence Oglesby, who left to play in Europe.

Johnson left Southern Cal after the program came under scrutiny from the NCAA because of the O.J. Mayo scandal. Head coach Tim Floyd later stepped down.

“After that happened, I wanted to get out,” Johnson told ESPN.com.

TOP TWEETS & BLOGS FROM NBA CAMP

Here is a selection of Top Tweets from the game’s top reporters at the NBA Top 100 Camp in Charlottesville, Va.

**Barnes denies “the” comment was meant to be a knock on KY & that any “leaders” would b premature cuz he hasn’t seen other schools, like UK

–Dustin Rumbaugh

The background here is that Harrison Barnes, the top prospect in the Class of 2010, made the following comment to BoxofMess.com about John Calipari.

How has the departure of John Calipari from Memphis to Kentucky impacted you?

It hasn’t really. He’s a good coach. I don’t know if I like the way they’re doing things right there now though. Seems like he left Memphis kind of in a bad situation and then guys at Kentucky are getting their scholarships taken back. I don’t know yet. It’s a competitive place though, you know college basketball, and it’s only getting more and more competitive.

**Jody Demling reports the following gems on his blog:

–In a star-studded affair, Michael Gilchrist of Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick (pictured courtesy Courier-Journal) battled Barnes in the first game. Barnes outscored Gilchrist 16-14, but many reporters felt Gilchrist out played Barnes. Gilchrist suffered a slight sprained ankle and missed the All-Star game.

–Justin Coleman of Richmond (Va.) Henrico County won the dunk contest and says Indiana is recruiting him heavily.

–The All-Star game consisted of the following players: Blue - Josh Selby, Jelan Kendrick, Harrison Barnes, Rakeem Christmas, Joe Jackson, Tyler Lamb, Andre Dawkins, Nate Lubick, Jared Sullinger, Perry Jones, CJ Leslie (DNP). White – Brandon Knight, Will Barton, Jereme Richmond, Patric Young, Tristan Thompson, Dion Waiters, Stacey Poole, Justin Coleman, Evan Smotrycz, Fab Melo, Michael Gilchrist (DNP).

–Joe Jackson scored 14 points in the All-Star game, Justin Coleman scored 11 and Memphis commit Will Barton 10.
