Jahmius Ramsey, the 6-foot-4 combo guard from Duncanville High School (Texas) and Drive Nation AAU, announced his pledge to Texas Tech on Thursday morning.

Ramsey chose the Red Raiders over Indiana, Louisville, Memphis, and Miami.

“I’m going to go Texas Tech just because I’m a Texas guy,” Ramsey told 247Sports.com. “I wanted to stay at home and make a difference. Coach had a lot of success last year with the Elite Eight run in the NCAA tournament and they develop their players really well. I can see that Zhaire [Smith] went high in the draft and he wasn’t rated coming in. I’m rated coming in so it could be better for me.”

Chris Beard and his staff are getting a tremendous athlete who is a terrific all around player. During the EYBL Peach Jam, Jahmius averaged 18.4 points on 48 percent three-point shooting.

According to 247Sports, Ramsey is a four-star prospect, ranked No. 33 nationally, and is the No. 3 player in Texas.

He is the fourth commit for TTU’s 2019 class as he teams up with four-star Kevin McCullarKhalid Thomas, and Russel Tchewa.

Ramsey is now the highest-ranked recruit in Texas Tech history.
