Isaiah Wong, the 6-foot-2 combo guard from Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast (NJ) High School, committed to Miami on Wednesday.

Wong also considered Pittsburgh, Clemson, Villanova and UConn. He has taken official visits to UConn (Sept. 7) and Miami (Sept. 14).

“I felt like they have a good competition in the ACC and it was good for me,” Wong told 247Sports.com. “They said I could play a big role but that I would have to work for it. I feel like I could work for it and be a big player on the team.”

According to 247Sports, Wong is ranked as the No. 74 overall player in the Class of 2019 and the No. 3 player from the state of New Jersey.

On the Under Armour circuit with WE-R1, Wong averaged 19.3 points while shooting 45 percent from three. He also averaged 4.3 rebounds per game and 1.5 steals per game.

“Wong is a special talent,” said WE-RI’s Terrell Myers. “His ability to score the ball is extremely rare. His best basketball is head of him, he’s just scratching the surface. Miami is getting an elite scorer and future all-league player.”

Wong is Miami’s first commit in the 2019 class.

“I like to play an all-around game,” Wong told 247. “I like defense, get rebounds, push the ball, I can create shots for other players and get my own at the same time, I feel like I can make my team better and give them a winning opportunity.”
