Lukas Kisunas, the 6-foot-8 Lithuanian center from Brewster Academy (NH), and UConn have parted ways and he has been released from his LOI, a source confirmed to ZAGSBLOG.

Kisunas committed to UConn in October and chose the Huskies over Illinois and Old Dominion among others.

“After spending the last two weeks at home in Lithuania for Spring Break, I’ve been able to reflect on the recent change in leadership at the University of Connecticut,” Kisunas tweeted. “At this time, I have requested my release to pursue other potential opportunities for my academic athletic career.”

Kisunas met with newly hired UConn coach Danny Hurley and assistant coach Tom Moore met with Kisunas on Wednesday to discuss his commitment.

“Lukas is a tough, physical center who will provide an interior presence for UConn,” Brewster coach Jason Smith said. “He is an elite level screener and possesses great footwork defending ball-screens. He’s a back-to-the-basket player who’s able to score over both shoulders in the post.”

With the decommitment of Kisunas, there are no more recruits left in UConn’s 2018 recruiting class. Emmitt Matthews and James Akinjo also asked for a release amid the firing of former head coach Kevin Ollie.

According to 247Sports, Kisunas is the No. 13 center in the class of 2018.
